Stiff swollen finger w/pus pocket after small cut

I cut my finger last week and although I cleaned and bandaged it, I got it dirty and wet  (grouting tile at work, arrowhead hunting every day) several times, and each time I changed the bandaid and cleaned it again. About 5 days later  I removed the bandage because it hurt every time my finger touched anything. My skin was white and there was a pus filled blister 2-3mm in size, about 3 mm away from that cut. I pricked and drained it and cleaned it with alcohol and put Neosporin and fresh bandaid on. It seemed better but the next morning it was swollen and stiff again!  When I uncovered it I found another "pimple" starting on the exact opposite side of the same finger. Tried to pick and drain it, nothing but blood came out so I cleaned and dressed the whole thing again. Later in the day it got wet and when I changed the bandage I noticed the 1st spot had a tiny pus bubble again so I squeezed that out and redressed it after cleaning again. Swelling went away for a while but keeps coming back, and stiffness and pain. My question is, can I take the Augmentin 875 prescription that I already have (7 days, 2×a day)? I don't have insurance or even a way to get to the dr right now! If it doesn't get better within 2 to 3 days I'll call an ambulance I promise.

Hello~

How old is this prescription? I would honestly see your physician, it sounds like you could be developing and infection by pricking and draining it in an unsterile environment.

If you do want to watch it and redress it before you see your doctor, use only sterile water, and make sure that the bandages are not in contact with any surface that is unclean.

As per the situation, an antibiotic at least 500 mg for 5 days may be required. Avoid contact with water and keep it clean, well  dressed as well as some air contact without dust or germs. The dressing needs to be changed regularly. Wash it with betadine or some hydrogen peroxide and then apply the anti biotic ointment over some cotton followed by bandage. Keep it dry.
