Help with armpit infection.

My 11 YO child has been miserable, especially going to middle school without deodorant and trying to fight this fungal\yeast armpit infection. Two different doctors refused to write for her a Diflucan. Went to Urgent Care first and then her primary care doctor. This was last week and now my insurance has ran out as I was laid off. I have been trying to treat this as directed and even going to school to wash them and reapply the powders, but they seem worse when she gets home from school. I know this is because they stay down all day and sweat because on weekends I can keep them more dry and they seem to improve. By Monday evening after school they look the same as when I first took her to the doctor. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. She is so miserable and so embarrassed about the smell. Dermatology cannot see her until the end of September. By then I will be in court over truancy. She has never missed so much school as she has over this, and with parent notes submitted to bring her home because they started bleeding and burning while washing them at school. Doctor excuse was for 1 day only. I'm at a standstill as to where I go from here. I have not heard anything back from state Medicaid to help her. I need some advice. The rash is under both arms. She also just finished some high-powered antibiotics in May, but this started a few months later. Any help would be appreciated. Desperate momma!

Well, that is terrible. Sorry to hear.  Starting school is hard enough without an armpit yeast infection.  Does her doctor  not agree that it is yeast?  I believe they can swab that or do they visually inspect?  I would go back. Diflucan is something babies are given. Why wouldn't they treat it? That's really kind of ridiculous.

Things you can do to treat it yourself are tree tee oil.  Get this at a health food store. Coconut oil may help and oregano oil also may help.  Is her school air conditioned?  If so, good.  If not, work with her teachers and have her sit in front of or under a fan (preferred seating) to help cut down on sweating. Light weight cotton clothes, loose fitting only.

I'd also ask her doctor to do some lab work to make sure she doesn't have any issue with her sugar or is prediabetic. There is a greater instance of underarm yeast when that is the case.

Anyway, I'd be really loud at the doctor.  Insurance or not----  pay cash for a one time visit. or get some tree tee oil.  Let us know how it goes hon.
