Toenail Still Black--Six Weeks After Injury

Over a month ago, maybe six weeks ago. I stubbed my toes on a step going into our bathroom. I heard a snap on one toe and certainly felt it. My third second toe beside the big toe (right foot).

A black bruise formed under the nail. The nail is still black, for the most part. It's not falling off and it doesn't hurt, or anything. Is it all right? Will my nail be black for life?

You probably will lose the nail. Usually it takes a while to fall out and the other nail will come in.

Probably Not! I t will take time for the nail to grow out. The snap  i'm guessing
that toe is broken and the only thing to do is tape that toe to the toe next to it
until it heals. You could see your doctor to see if it is broken.
