Shooting Pain in upper bicep

I am checking to see what I might be able to do to relieve this pain, until I can see my doctor in about 2 weeks. It started about 2 weeks and has been getting more frequent and worse daily. The shooting pains 5-10 seconds and about every 15-30 minutes and are excruciating. The pain today is moving further down my arm past my elbow and up my arm to my shoulder. I tried to get in to my family doctor but they can't see me until mid-March. I also have cll that has been under remission and am going to Mayo in about 2 weeks

Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do and what are some of the causes that cause this type of pain?

Thanks
CS

Thank you for answering our post. The pain has been getting better. Now it is just once and a while. I will check with my doctor at Mayo to get it checked out.

Thank you

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and thank you for posting on the forum. From the information shared by you there can be few possibilities in your condition. It seems that you have developed a sprain, tendinitis or arthritis. Bicep tendonitis can occur after repeat use of the biceps like during weight-lifting exercises, inflammation of the tendons in the shoulder etc. A  physical examination and imaging tests like X-rays and MRI are necessary for appropriate diagnosis. You may try the RICE protocol in which RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Use cold packs for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day. Do not apply ice directly to the skin. To help prevent additional swelling, wear an elastic compression bandage. Try applying local analgesic creams .A complete clinical examination and work up is necessary for appropriate diagnosis and management of your condition. It is suggested to see an orthopaedician and get evaluated so that the right therapy is initiated. Take care and keep us posted. Best regards!
