Weird feeling in the back of my mouth and minor white coating on tongue

About 3 days ago after I ate some cake and ice cream I noticed this weird feeling in the back of my throat on the roof of my mouth, but towards the back and on the sides. Its hard to explain but it feels kind of like a rough sandy coating. When my mouth is closed that feeling feels like its right on my tongue. I tried brushing and using mouthwash it helped a lil but the feeling is still there. Sometimes its worse then others. Its not usually noticeable when im eating or drinking but thats not always the case. I cant really see anything wrong when I try to look but I can feel it with my tongue. I have had this before years ago but I never was worried about it and it never lasted this long. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Its getting annoying and I would hate to have to go to the doctor over something minor like this. Another concern I have Im not sure if this could be related but sometimes I have a white coating on my tongue. I have had it for years but it was only towards the back and the doctors never said anything about it. I have a history of stomach problems and my mom said it looked a lot worse when I was real sick. Now its all over my tongue but fades away when I eat or brush. Im not sure if It could be thrush or something else. Any ideas on what this could be is greatly apprecated. Thanks!

I do have stomach problems and I was dignosed with acid reflux so I take Prilosec sometimes. I didnt know acid reflux could cause a white coating or my throat to feel that way. My throat has gotten better besides the coating on my tongue still comes and goes. If it can be caused from acid reflux then your probably right.

I havent been on any antibotics since feb after I had my gallbladder removed. I drink water sometimes but nowhere near 8 cups. Im just worried about what this could be caised from. Like I mentioned earlier on the back of my tongue its always been white but the doctors never seemed concerned. The white coating has been going on since september. If it is thrush I didnt know it could fade away throught the day from brushing and eating and I heard it can be somewhat painful. Wasnt sure if that was always the case.

It could be Thrush! Are you drinking enough water? and are you on any Antibiotics or meds? I suggest seeing your doctor.
