broken tooth

i have a tooth that cracked a few years ago and it didnt hurt so i thought nothing about it. it finally broke more and about 2 months ago it started getting very sensitive to hot/cold or anything sweet. i went to a dentist and he told me to take antibiotics (which i didnt) and go see another dentist to have a root canal done. im so busy with work and my family i waited another few weeks and went and saw another dentist. he is sending me to an oral surgeon and in the mean time i was prescribed pennicillan. i have waited about 2 1/2 weeks and just started taking my antibiotic. my tooth that is broken doesnt hurt unless i get something hot/cold in it but i noticed the side of my neck/throat that the tooth is on is swollen. im nervous because i have read it can spread and sufficate you or get into your blood? what should i do? ive been having panic attacks and im so scared because i waited to take my antibiotics. i have no swelling in my mouth that i know of. is it too late to do anything or should i calm down and just keep taking my meds?

As you have started the Anti biotic it makes sense to continue the course of them,If the swelling does not go dwon or you are anxious go back and let them take a look at least they will know if there is a further infection.Good Luck
