tdmedh, I think the first step would be to nail down exactly how to characterize what you have. You seem to be saying that it feels like what is called "DOMS" (delayed onset muscle soreness). However, I don't believe there is any such known thing as 'permanent DOMS'.
Is it in just a spot, or a long line of soreness?
You also want to determine if it's in the ITB (that's like a long broad tendon), or in the muscle (look up vastus lateralis). CrossFit is known for causing muscle damage, even the very severe rhabdomyolysis. You don't have rhabdo, but understanding what it is might give a clue as to what you do have. E.g., it might be related to permanent bruising, which is a known thing that's related to ruptured cells leaking their contents.
Or, you could just jump in and try using a foam roller.
The weakness and soreness are probably the body's way of saying, "don't use this too strenuously or you can really damage it badly".
Hello~I am sorry you are having this pain. I honestly think you should see your GP again, maybe he/she can refer you to another doctor or even to a physical therapist, some stretches they may offer may help as may some light exercises for that area.
Hello and thanks for the question. You say that you get this pain upon certain movements but then say you have it all the time so I am a little confused. Please talk to your doctor about this. It could possibly be IT or iliotibial band syndrome. There is a band of tissue that starts at your hips and runs outside of your thigh down to your knee and is meant to provide stability to the knee during movement. This can cause pain like you describe. Here's information on it.https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/it-band-syndrome#1. Tingling or anything like that? You could also have a nerve issue.
