I want to commend you, Marie, for wanting to take care of your eyes.  Bilberry and Lutein are the primary supplements recommended for eye care.  There are some good formulas also from health food stores which contain these two plus others that can make your eyes stronger and healthier.
If you find that your eyes have a tendency to get dry, you can use some artificial tears.  Systane Ultra was recommended to my mom by our specialist.

Wishing you the best

I'd chime in with not staring at a computer screen for too long, if you do increase the font size. Avoid activities which strain your eyes like reading in poorly lit rooms. Hope this helps

When you go outside protect your eyes by wearing good sunglasses with protection lenses.

If you do any physical work that would involve in wood chippings flying about, dirt and dusts or concrete or any other potentially hazardous elements, then always wear protective goggles.

Having a good healthy diet is not only good for the body, but also good for other organs and that includes your eyes.  Carrots have been known for a long time to bee good for the eyes and eye sight due to their Vitamin A content.

Make sure that you drink adequate fluids which includes water so that you do not become dehydrated.

Unfortunately, no matter what you do, as we age we all get some form of degeneration (everywhere) and if your parents have eye problems and need to wear glasses to correct their vision, it is highly likely that your eyes could change over the years too.  For example if both your parents are short sighted, it is highly likely that this will happen to you too.

Best wishes.

I had a friend who was actually going blind.  Someone recommended Bilberry with Lutein and it stopped the blindness.  She still needs glasses, but she isn't blind and and read and drive.
I have a grandson who has eye problems who is also taking
bilberry and Lutein and finding that it truly helps.

My daughter is also taking Bilberry and Lutein and says her vision has improved a great deal.  She doesn't wear glasses.

I eat a lot of fresh Bilberries and have had not improvement in my eyesight.  Perhaps it is because I have not been having a supplement of Lutein - who knows!

silverfox67 can you enlighten us on Lutein please.  I do not know much about Lutein.  Is it something that we get from our diet or do we have to have a certain amount of Lutein in supplement form?

Thanks.
Best wishes.

If you are having trouble seeing, get an eye exam by an opthalmologist. There is no stigma to wearing glasses, but being on a computer 10 hours a day can take a toll on your vision. Wouldn't it be better to get the exam and even wear the glasses, and not worry about it? You may not have any eye disease, but everyone's vision changes at some point in their lives; nothing you can do about that, although some things mentioned may avoid disease...but should be used with the recommendation of the opthalmologist. An optometrist can test for vision but if you are at or near 40, it is better to go to the Medical Doctor to be sure there is no disease or cataracts forming.

PS - Cataracts can be removed and the procedure is a breeze. Not a serious or difficult procedure.
