Hi.  Well, that is always concerning when we find that something we can't really feel (blood pressure) is in an unhealthy zone.

things my doctor recommends for blood pressure are to lose weight (if you have some to lose), exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet.

I would consult with your doctor on this to get a 'plan' in place.

I wouldn't think that the pain behind your ear is related.  I had blood pressure higher than this with pregnancy and things I noticed were eye issues (seeing spots), light headedness, etc.

I would schedule a doc's appt.  If you take it again and determine it isn't a fluke or the equip that is.  goodluck

You might want to see what Dr. Oz has to say about high blood pressure.  I think he would have you take L-arginine and other things rather than starting a BP med.

140/100 is a high reading. Did you only take it once? If so, it's worth retaking. Could be faulty equipment. Pain behind your ear could be related, however, most people with high blood pressure rarely notice symptoms, until they have a real problem( heart attack). If your pressure is trully that high you need to see a physician right away. It's not something to wait around on.
