The best milk is raw milk that hasn't been treated you have to find a farm that
sells it the cattle are not feed antibiotics and are cleaned before milking.

Interesting. I have read a lot about soy and found that in moderate amounts it is healthy. Even my health care plan said to have moderate amounts in an anti inflammatory diet. I read a book by Colin Campbell who did a large study on the diets of Chinese and why they don't get cancer and osteoporsis. I'll take a look at these. I agree I don't think infants should have soy as their main milk product but for adults I'll have to read. The results that I have seen so far are that phytoestrogens are safe and do not act like estrogens.  I have read a lot about this before changing my diet. I am open though to reading more. Milk is also not healthy as thought by most Americans. It is partly what they feed the cows (hormones) and other gross stuff like corn and chicken dung. But, the U.S. has more osteoporosis than any other country despite the higher intake of milk.  Both milk and soy milk have added calcium and vitamins. Neither are the original nutrients in milk. Anyway, not to argue but rather to discuss whether these things are healthy as we consume moderate amounts of soy.
thanks,

True or false: Asians eat a lot of soy in their diet.
Soy formula is a good choice for infants.
Soy-containing foods help prevent osteoporosis.
Soy is a healthy food for adults.
Soy helps improve libido in men.
The answer to all of the above statements is: false.
Those who eat large amounts of soy, especially non-fermented soy, have
severe hormonal imbalances that are very difficult or impossible to correct without eliminating or drastically reducing soy in the diet.
Soy is contained in almost 60 percent of grocery store food. It is in vegetable burgers and hot dogs and is a hidden ingredient in many other foods. And don’t forget soy milk. I've seen it even added in tea bags.
The soy used in our country, however, is primarily non-fermented soy in the form of soy-protein isolate and soy milk. It is the non-fermented form of soy that is causing so many of the problems with soy foods.
The soy industry would have you believe that Asians eat lots of soy. Since Asians suffer less chronic illness than most Western people, then soy must be a healthy food. How much soy do Asians actually eat?
One study found that Chinese ate approximately 2 teaspoons to 2 tablespoons of soy a day. Soy is not eaten in large amounts in Asian countries; rather, it is used as a condiment.
What type of soy do we eat in the United States? Infants are exposed to soy formula, and adults ingest soy milk. Beyond those, other soy items
soy milk, soy hot dogs, soy meats, soy energy bars, as well as many other food sources. Most of these “Western” food sources contain soyprotein isolate, which is a highly processed, devitalized, and toxic food source that needs to be avoided.
Soy formulas should be pulled from the market. No newborn child should be fed a soy-based formula.
In 1997, researchers reported that infants fed a soy formula ingested a whopping 28 to 47 milligrams (mg) of isoflavones  estrogen-like compounds found in soy. The author of this study concluded, “The daily exposure of infants to isoflavones in soy infant formulas is six- to elevenfold higher on a body-weight basis than the dose that has hormonal effects in adults
consuming soy foods.
Researchers have estimated that an infant exclusively fed soy formula received the estrogen equivalent of five birth-control pills per day. early development of puberty in young girls. Girls are developing secondary sexual characteristics at an earlier and earlier age. There is no question that the age of puberty  when a young girl begins to menstruate has declined during the past 20 years. One percent of girls show signs of breast development before age three. A study in 1997 determined that, by eight years of age, 8 percent of Caucasian girls and nearly 25 percent of African- American girls show signs of early pubertal development.
Newborn boys also should not be given soy formula. The excess amount of phytoestrogens found in soy cause problems for the newborn males.
Hypospadias, a condition that is a birth defect of the urethra in males
The Israeli Health Ministry issued a warning on ingesting soy. It recommended that the consumption of soy foods be limited for young
children and adults, and that soy formula should be avoided altogether by infants. It’s too bad our own FDA does not follow this sage advice.
Soy causes thyroid problems!
More than 75 years of medical research has shown that soy adversely affects thyroid function. Why does soy do this? It is the phytoestrogens in soy that adversely affect thyroid function.

Oh, I wanted to add that when you eat pasta or bread eat whole grain only, unless you are allergic to wheat gluten of course. I agree with the above posts that moderation is best. You don't want to go on a crash diet. Diet programs like weight watchers are good but not always the healthiest food. You will want to count your calories too. Try 1800 calories and see if you make progress with walking.
take care,

I'm sorry you are having trouble with weight. It really is a lifestyle change. I went on a vegan diet (balanced) and starting drinking vanilla soy milk and no animal products. It is hard at first but I can eat all the pasta I want and I have lost weight. You may want to get a book on how to do this to stay balanced. It takes a lot of discipline.  Plant based whole foods fill you up more and provide all the nutrients you really need. The only exception is vitamin B12, which you may have to substitute in a sublingual type. Also, if you are not exercising try walking. If you can't go entirely vegan you can add salmon occasionially and tuna. Also, the basic greek diet that is an anti-inflmamatory diet also allows small amounts of chicken (4 ounces). I haven't really missed out. A couple of other tips are stay entriely away from soft drinks, fast food, and when you go out to eat be careful about buttery and creamy sauces and portion sizes. That is hard so I think the vegan diet is easier in a lot of ways and much more healthy.  If you have any questions let me know. I 'll try to advice.

My nutrition teacher is having us write down everything we eat, so that could be a good start. Also, exercise is VERY important! For me at least, the trick is not to try to have low calorie diets. If you eat too few, your body will go into starvation mode and store everything you eat and turn it to fat. Eat a moderate amount of calories, and then burn them by exercising. I exercise 4 days a week, but you might want to start slow if you're a beginner.
Hope this helps!
