impact to ribs/back 9 weeks ago, still hurting, what could be wrong?

Short version of injury, had a motorcycle hit the side of me.  Went to ER day after, they said no broken ribs. Few weeks went by, not getting better, went to physical therapy for about 5 weeks 2-3 times a week. They claim everything was just out of alignment betwen back, pelvis, etc and that is causing me issues. Toward the end we got 1 rib to literally "pop" back into place or so it felt. Felt good for about an hour but after was in a lot of pain. Few weeks have passed since that and I'm still in a bit of pain and my side is very sensitive. Maybe another needs to get put back in place? IDK.. I want to start getting back to normal sports and activities but am concerned I may damage something more if I take another hit. So my questions are:

1. If I don't have a broken or cracked rib (by now it should be healed if I did, right?) what else could even be wrong? If something's out of place whats the risk other than it hurting?

2. I dont want to go back to the ER, it seemed useless the first time... so what type of dr should I look for? I called a few like sports drs and they basically said they dont deal with ribs. The PT i saw was kind of like a chiropractor/PT.. sort of a unique approach. A lot of different techniques, self massaging, etc.

Hello~I truly think that seeing a chiropractor would be your best option. They have certain treatments that can actually put misaligned ribs back into place, and this is what sounds like should be done. The chiro will take more x-rays, study them, and then go over the results and discuss a treatment plan, I think you would really be helped by one.
