looking back at childhood (condition).....

hi everyone! am new to the site. anyway, i was thinking back to my grade school days. not exactly sure where to post something like this, but, thought i would just put it out there and see what kind of comments i might get. when i was growing up (mainly very young through grade school days), i can remember having what i called "seizures" every know and then. what would happen is, all of a sudden events would seem to be going very fast. i knew it was going on inside my head, and was very scary at the time. i remember one time when i was in the living room of our home and it happened and i told my mother that "things are going very fast" and she just held me and they would dicipate---not really sure how long they lasted---maybe 30 seconds to a couple of minutes? i know it wasn't very long. i am 55 now, and, was just looking back---they've always kinda haunted me as to what have might been going on. haven't told many people, mostly because the few i did never had heard of such a thing. just curious if anyone out there had ever heard of such a thing. i will add, once i hit middle school age, never did have them again.

To me, this sounds like you may have had a panic disorder. Many children go through temporary panic periods when they're very young, known as "seperation anxiety". An actual seizure could be possible, but I believe that you would have noticed, because pieces would be missing and someone would have gotten you to a doctor at some point.

If these symptoms have disipated, I would feel safe saying whatever possibly could have been afflicting you has gone away. You're in the clear. If it really bothers you, you could talk to a doctor, but I feel they would tell you the same.

Oh, to save a trip to the doc---there's a section on this site where you can submit a question directly to doctors. Find the neurologists and talk to them. They'll be able to give you a solid opinion, and you won't have to worry about a bill to hear the same stuff.

I hope this helps you!

first of all, would like to say thanks to all of you that took the time to comment. it is really appreciated.

second, maybe "seizure" is not the correct term. i'm just really not sure what term is appropriate. it did not affect me physically---that would be normal---just that it was like my mind was playing things in high speed---kinda like playing an album on 78 (for those that might remember turntables, haha)

i have heard of seizures before i once saw a kid in elementary that was in my class that had one there. No lie it was scary because all of a sudden he fell from the desk and we didn't know what was wrong withhim. So we just called the nurse and that was it they took him tothe hospital.

it is possible to only have sezuires as a child and them go away. I have heard of that happening before. I want to think it was from some sort of imbalance but I can't say for sure on that.
