my grandmother says she can feel beads if she runs her finger through her legs

My grandmother is old, around 70 years old. Recently, she complained that she could feel beads if she runs her finger along her legs and also says that she feels pain in her legs and have difficulty while standing or sitting for longer period. What could it be? Local doctors say that her bones have weakened due to old age and that caused her pain. One doctor suggested her to take Amitriptyline. What disease could it be associated with? Would it help if she takes such anti depressants?
