red flat rash/round patch

Went on a cruise this past week. I got tanned from the sun but woke up the next morning with a red flat spot on my upper thigh/hip. Its about the size of a quarter and does not itch or bother. When I first got it was extremely red and round it looked like I burned myself. Now its redness has gone away and looks like a dark and deep red to make it woes it looks like its branching out sort of becoming larger. I'm worried it could be a fungus or something disgusting. I have pictures if anyone wants to provide a guess on what it could be.

    I just saw something like this on TV.  Was it you?  A spot that was like a sunburn that turned burgundy color.   The doctor said it was some kind of bite that required immediate treatment.

Could just be a reaction to something but as you said you got a tan , id get this checked.  Any unusual marks should generally be seen by a doctor though if its gone you should just put it down to one of those things.
