what to expect from mono in 17 yr old

My daughter is 17. She has been sick for about a month and was diagnosed a few days ago with mono.
She has been sleeping most of the time, as she is exhausted.  Last night, her throat felt like it was swelling shut. She can barely swallow or talk.

She also started complaining of dizziness and mid-abdominal pain on her left side.
Her dr does not seem concerned.

She says that she is feeling progressively worse each day instead of better.

Is this normal of mono?  How long do these symptoms normally go on before she will start to feel better?

Thank you!!

I just heard back from her doctor....she has EBV and CMV simultaneously..she has an appt to have a sonogram of her abdomen tomorrow to check her spleen.
Does anyone know anything about having both of these viruses at the same time?
Thank you

sorry...I also wanted to add that she has other health issues.  She has dysautonomia and endometriosis.  She had c-difficile about six years ago, which put her in the hospital for 3 days.  Last year, she had appendicitis, which revealed a carcinoid tumor in her appendix. She had a scan after that and no other tumors were found, though.

I don't know if any of that will make a difference with her mono.

Thank you!
