Any advice/information on Cervical Spine Stenosis surgery?/Has anyone here had it?

I've recently received news that parts of my neck are squeezing my nerves shut and there's a risk of paralysis upon trauma or any physical activity (moderate stenosis of the central spinal canal). I was offered two options:-Do physical therapy with a professional for 2 months and then see if it's better, if not - proceed with surgery-Proceed with the surgery immediatelyI wanted to ask if there's anyone who might know more about this procedure and would be kind enough to share some information.

  1.  How big of a risk does the surgery pose?

  2.  Are there known consequences to life after this surgery?

I'm trying to decide whether to get an appointment with a therapist now or go back to the neurosurgeon who told me all of this and ask to get the surgery done in advance.Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated, I'm honestly quite terrified of doing the surgery while also being afraid of being too late with the surgery. Thank you so much in advance.
