Hello,
Your ob/gyn has counseled you well. If there are any concerns about having an ovarian cyst you can have it followed by ultrasound. The characteristics of the cyst, your age and family history would help determine any potential risk for ovarian cancer.
In terms of the liver findings, I'd suggest you be seen by a gastro-intestinal physician to help determine what if anything should be done regarding those findings.
I would encourage you to continue to follow up with your ob/gyn.
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
first of all, a dr. doing a hysterectomy in the 2000 should have asked you or told u that leaving the ovaries in when doing a hysterectomy is dangerous because there is no test for ovarian cancer after a hyst. most feel it is better to take them as well to prevent cancer later. i suggest u get a second ct or mri. the fatty liver and no alcohol problems may need more testing.
Hi, I have similar pain in my pelvic area also. I too have had a hysterectomy in May of 07 but I still have my ovaries and cervix. Because of pain I had a CT scan and it showed cysts on both ovaries so I thought. I had two ultrasounds, one being vaginal and both were conclusive that I had cysts on both ovaries but that one of my tubes was blocked and filled with fluid. I went today to have my third ultrasound, on top of stomach and vaginally by a specialist and he said that both ovaries are fine, the problem is that both tubes are blocked and filled with fluid and that was being mistaken for cysts. So maybe you might mention that to the doc. After my hysterectomy I too was thought ot have a hernia but was told that it was little and would probably heal itself as long as I didn't lift heavy objects etc...so far it seems ok but still hurts and burns on occasion...do you have a burning feeling also and is it right above your belly button? I also had fat on my liver (results shown after a liver biopsy) and was asked the same question if I drank. I do drink occasionally but not enough to develop liver problems so I thought. I have cut out all alcohol...even if it was just alittle and now my liver enzyme counts are normal? So good luck to you and let me know how you make out!! PS...I think it was inappropriate for your doctor to act like your cysts are no big deal...very unprofessional!!
