Tender spot on vagina

I have an irregular shaped discoloration or sore on my vagina that I noticed a few months ago while I was examining myself to find the source of my vaginal burning. It is a purple and red color with what appear to be darker specks near the edges. I have been referred to a gynecologist but the wait time is 7 months. I am worried about waiting that long. I do not have any bleeding as I had a full hysterectomy. Also sex with my husband is painful.

I am sorry to hear of your dilemma having experienced a similar issue. Evening Primrose oil was very helpful to me. Best wishes!

Thank you for the reply. I ended up seeing a gynecologist through the walk in clinic. He dismissed the lesion saying it was most likely from early menopause but would not give me a reason for the pain and swelling I am experiencing. As of now I am majorly inflamed and red throughout the whole vulva and sitz bath does nothing to help. I have another appointment in October and was wondering if I can maybe apply cream to the area. All pap came back negative. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would want to biopsy the lesion.  I would be concerned about infection, autoimmune conditions such as Behchet's
and also vulvar cancer.  A wait time of 7 months seems excessive to me too!
A dermatologist could biopsy the lesion, or a general doctor--just a simple punch biopsy at one edge could make a diagnosis and treatment could be arranged while you are waiting to see the gynecologist.
Good luck!
