cyst on the overies

mt daughter has been for a scan today and was told that she has a large cyst on her right overy. They told her it is causing concern as it is very large and as she has a small inside there is not much more room for it to grow. She is due to see a gynecloogy doctor on monday. My daughter is 21. She does moriss dancing and has a compation on sunday. is it safe for her to dance

Hello,

The concern for her dancing or other strenuous activity is that it may result in ovarian torsion.  This can result in loss of blood flow to the ovary possibly leading to its destruction.  I'd suggest your daughter refrain from dancing and if she notes the sudden onset of abdominal pain, nausea and/or vomiting, to seek medical attention right away.

I am 38 and have been suffering with cramping for the whole month of Feb. and even until these first few days of Mar. On Mar. 8th, I went to bed with the worst of the pain since it has started. I had to sleep in the fetal position with a pillow and it didn't help at all. I called my gyne the next day and he told me to take a preg. test and if I wasn't, to take 2 Aleve every 12 hrs. It took away the harshness of the pain, but I was still cramping. I went to the ER. They took four tubes of blood and put a cath. in. I then had x-rays lying down and standing up. Next, I went in for an ultrasound and vaginal probe. They came back later to tell me that I had an ovarian cyst on my left side and it had burst. That was the pain I felt the night before. I am on Naproxen and 1/2 a pill of Levison every 12 hrs. It seems to be working.

HI IM 22 YRS OLD. I JUST HAD 3 DERMOID OVARIAN CYSTS REMOVED 2 WKS AGO. THEY WERE 1/2 INCH TO 1 INCH IN DEMETER AND HAD A 4TH ONE BURST DURING SURGEY AND WAS CLEANED UP. IM STILL HURTING AROUND MY SCARS. I HAVE TO WATCH HOW I BEND, AND CANT LIFT ANYTHING OVER 5 LBS. I HURT MOST WHENEVER MY BLADDER IS FULL OR WHEN ITS TIME FOR A BM. I FEEL 80% BETTER. JUST CANT SEEM TO GET THE LAST 20% TO GET BACK TO WORK. IS THIS NORMAL. HOW MUCH LONGER SHOULD RECOVERY BE. ALSO SHOUD I BE FEARFULL OF MORE DERMOID CYSTS TO COME? MINE WERE ALL HAIR FILLED. THE EARLIEST I COULD GET A FOLLOW UP APPT IS IN 2 MORE WKS.

hi i am 30 yaers old and for three years i am trying for a baby after going through fertility treatment and medicines the doc told me my overi is large and ther is cyst on it plz tell me how to cure it without having surgery

Hi there,
I had low right abdominal pain which ultrasound revealed a 5 cm by 2 cm ovarian cyst. The radiologist said I was "a puzzle" because my ovary "wasn't where it should be".  The radiologist also said that I had good blood flow to the ovary.  The only thing that took me to the O.R. after the ultrasound was when my gyne surgeon saw that my white blood cells were high.  What she found in the O.R. was my ovary had twisted around 3 times like a cord!!!  It was dusky looking too!  (I saw the photos she took via laparoscopy.)  So beware of ultrasound results, they aren't the definitive proof that the ovary isn't being jeopardized. I was in good health and had not done any dancing or jogging or horseback riding anything that I would think would cause torsion, like is suggested that would cause torsion.
