Hi
I am a 32. I have had 2 pregnancies and 2 natural deliveries.
I have developed the following sypmtoms since mid Oct. -sharp pain in my side, lower back ache, pain in abdomen (tender spot-all on left side), UTI with no infection, very painful ovulation and noticing increased indegestion (although not a new problem for me). PCP ordered ultraound suspecting Endometriosis. Unfortunatly he passed before interpreting for me. Results: 12-18-08
Uterus is anterverted, normal in size at 8.9 cm in length x 4.1 AP x 0.4 transverse. Endometrium is 9 mm in thickness, avascular and normal.
Myometrium normal.
Small amount of free fluid in cul de sac.
Right ovary 2.8 cm in length, the left is 3.4. Multiple follicular cysts in the right ovary. The largest is less than 1 cm. There are follicullar cysts of the left ovary, and there is also a Complex Cyst or nodule, possibly hemorrhagic cyst, oval 2.3 cm x 1.6 with some hypervasculairty in the periphery.
Impression:
Anterverted uterus.
2.3 cm complex or hemorrhagic cyst in left ovary.
Small amount of free fluid. Otherwise negative.
What does this mean? Do "hypervascularity" and "free fluid" indicate something bad? I have a family history of cancer. Grandmother(Mother's Mother) Colon at 75, Mother-Breast Survivor at 35,Father-Prostate Survivor at 64. I know my chances are much higher than most so I want to be sure I go to my doctor visit next week prepared. What is the difference between a complex and hemorrhagic cyst? Does this look like something cancerous? Is Ultrasound the best "imaging" method used to look and determine cyst type? What other test should I request? How long should I wait before taking another test? Also, when the ultrasound was being done I felt this pulsating inside (almost like a heart beat in my lower abdomen) and I still feel it every now and then for short periods of time, is that normal cyst symptom? R symptoms in line w/findings? Any advice/sugg would be appreciated.
Thank you.
