Going through Menopause

I am going throughperimenopause. My cycles have been off kilter for a few months. I am getting worried because I haven't had a period in 45 Days? Should I expect one and how soon? I have been getting lower abdominal pains for the past 2 days.

Hi!
I ALWAYS recommend a pregnancy test!  That is the most common reason for missed periods.  If that is not an issue however ( most women going through menopause would rather die! ) it can be very normal to have prolonged cycles at this time of life.  I often give my patients the rule of thumb, too little bleeding is OK; too much is not.  In other words, the periods can become lighter, shorter and further apart, but should not be heavier, closer together or prolonged.

You could call your doctor for a prescription for progesterone.  That might start your period for you--if it doesn't work, that means you weren't supposed to have one anyway.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for recognizing the fact that most women would rather die than go through menopause side effects.  I am one of these women.  Please read my message posted a few minutes ago.

I now have learned through a woman I met that a saliva test is the BEST way to match bio-identical hormones, for great relief.  I have no insurance.  How do I get this test at a reasonable cost?
