Need of Advice

I have always been a regular when it came to my period. I got on a birth control pill for the very first time ever ( Yaz ) and after about 3 months of taking it my period stopped completely. It has now been about 5 months that I have had no period. Is this something that I need to worry about or is it normal. I have also noticed that I get irritated very easily and my libido has gone down and that is not good. Is this something that I need to worry about or is it normal?

One more thing I have notice is that every once in a while I do get small pains (menstral like) coming form both of my ovaries.

Will not having a period bring any health consequences later in life?

Hello,

What you describe are well known side effects of the pill.  You can consider an alternative pill (there are plenty) or stop it all together.  Talk to the person who prescribed you the pill about your side effects and about how you might want to manage things.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
