Severe pain in my ovaries and nothing being done!

I have been admitted into hospital every month for the past 4 months due to severe pain in my ovaries. They found a cyst each time that had ruptured, gave me some morphine and sent me off with painkillers. The most recent time i went in they found a cyst but on my right side, but the pain is still in my left. Yet again they sent me off with painkillers. I feel like no one is doing anything to help me, can i do anything about this as im worried its something serious!

Thanks

It definetly sounds like you need to make an appt with a gynecologist or at least a PCP to get a referral to a good GYN.
The hospital is good for treating the ruptured cysts, but they don't do on-going care and preventative care.  When you see a gyno they can do testing to find out if you have more cysts and where they.  They can then do what they need to do to either prevent the cysts growing or many other treatments.
I hope that you're able to get some answers and relief soon.

Hi!
If I were your doctor, there are a couple of recommendations that I would consider.
First of all, I would discuss oral contraceptives with you.  When a woman cycles naturally, she produces a cyst each month which ruptures and the follicle is released to be picked up by the fallopian tube and wait for the sperm, etc.
Oral contraceptives stop ovulation from occuring by changing the hormone balance, and prevent the cysts from forming each month.

The other recommendation I would make, is to get on a good bowel regimen. Left sided pain is almost always caused by IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).  I like my patients to take fiber daily (Benefibre is a good one) Miralax daily for at least a week and then as needed and also to drink 2-3 liters of plain water or green tea daily.  IF you do have IBS all the morphine they are giving you ( and probably Vicodin too?) is going to REALLY cause you to get backed up.  That will cause both constant and intermittent left sided pain.  Try the bowel regimen above, and see if it helps--it has worked wonders for some of my patients who have been morphine/home with Vicodin-ed for months.

Good luck!

I've seen a gyneacologist twice and they have given me scans which they have found cysts but theres never any follow up! Quite funny actually, ive just had a letter come through saying they have booked me in for an ultrasound to follow up my recent visit to hospital. I'm 18 years old in answer to the first question. Hopefully after this ultrasound they will look into getting something sorted because its meaning taking time off work every month! Thanks for your answer

Have you been seen by a gynocologist? How old are you?
