help!

i am a 15 year old girl and started my period since the age of 12. Usually ill get cramps just before i have my period and its usually really light except for the 3rd day being heavy. But this time my period came it came down really heavy the blood was dark red brownish and lots of clots. In this same week ive had the flu so i dont know if that had anything to do with it.And i was taking a variation of tydonol extra strength, robitussin and a multivitamin i usually take everyday.i thought u should know that cuz i heard on the news that these medecines have some new side effects.Im a virgin i dont have any STDs,im typically healthy.Even though its heavy i have no cramps but i did notice when i slouch foward i feel a pain in my lower back and stomache. Usually i would change my tampon/pad every 4 hours now with a tampon/pad every 2 hours.Do u know what is wrong with me? is it serious? Should i go to the doctor?

Hello,

These sort of changes to the menstrual cycle can happen.   I suggest you follow your next few periods and see if this persists or returns to what has been normal for you.

If you have concerns, seeing a physician is always an option.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Hi,
I think , its pretty normal as usually in the start (when you started) periods are light but as time goes by your cycle settles. Few blood clots are normal part of cycle.
But if you think they are too much then you should consult a doctors to reassure everything.

i would go to the gyn, there are somethings they can help you with.  i dont think it is a ser. problem, my daughter had the samething when she was young, they put her on birth-con. to help her, and it did, might be something to ask gyn to do if not on now.
