Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I always tell people to remember two important things when they have a miscarriage:  One--the miscarriage was most likely caused by an abnormality of the pregnancy ( birth defect ) and Two--nothing YOU did or did not do caused the miscarriage.  A third important consideration is that you know you CAN get pregnant.

If your ultrasound was negative for tissue within the uterus--you are better of WITHOUT a D&C.  Nature is pretty good at cleaning the uterus, and whenever surgery is done, there is a potential for scarring and injury of the uterus. Usually it is only necessary to do surgery if there is retained tissue.

It is VERY common to have a miscarriage.  It is fairly unusual to have two in a row.  The majority of women who have a miscarriage will conceive again and carry the next pregnancy to term, so your chances are very good.

For my patients who have had miscarriages, I recommend that they continue their vitamins.  There is no need to delay trying again.  When they do become pregnant again, I like to follow quantitative beta HCG ( pregnancy hormone levels ) and progesterone levels.  I also like to do an early ultrasound.

I wish you the best!
