Hi!
A couple of things:
First, there is a condition called Acanthosis Nigricans that occurs in women who are somewhat overweight and especially if they are diabetic or insulin resistant. If you were my patient, I would check you for diabetes.
Secondly, most of the time, the color is relatively permanent, but laser can lighten the area AND permanently remove unwanted hair. You might check out a dermatologist who advertises laser hair removal--they usually have lasers that can reduce pigment in the skin as well.
Thirdly, I can help but say that if a man is concerned about the color of your labia, he probably is not Mr Right. Find someone better!
Good luck!
Dr B
this is so ironic. for many years i have been principled enough to live by living and breathing your own skin.. since at the end of the day you are you the world may take it or leave it.. beats me, now i'm trying to blend with what society dictates. makes me wonder how much part does the media play in this.
If it is that much of distraction to him maybe play with body paints or lingerie? Though a woman should never have to feel uncomfortable with her body.
Well except maybe in the case of morbid obesity and that holds for men to.
he is fairly experienced. anyway my wanting to lighten my labia has nothing to do with his satisfaction whatsoever. i'm a neat freak, and i find it really dirty being this color. my skin tone is light-honey so imagine my perplexity when my labia are this far out. i a resigned to the idea that they really normal to be darker, but a dark browm to grey shade seems unacceptable to me. i jut want to know what am i doing wrong, if there is any.
Maybe a sunlamp and a light tan (further darkening?). What is his experience?
Simple fact? Almost everything you could do is probably going to cause you fair amounts of pain and discomfort.
Actually are you sure it's not just the normal age/hormonal darkening? I wouldn't worry about it too much as the few fillipino-/pacific Island women I knew in that manner seemed to have daker labia. Honestly a lot of guys think it is somewhat erotic having a bit of contrast in color there.
hi! thank you very much Dr. B. that was just the insight i gravely needed. i got myself a complete blood panel and thankfully my sugar is within the 80-120 normal range. safe to say i'm not diabetic or in the verge of becoming one.
seeing a dermatologist is next on my list, i'm still looking for a competent one around my area. my concern though is the risk for radiowave exposure. wouldnt that jeopardize my chances of conceiving someday?
Mr. lastnight is far from being Mr. Right and therefore it is for the best i discontinue seeing him.
thank you again, Dr. B.
thanks.. its been great..
Chemicals not good. Tanning may get rid of the gray.. But otherwise your body sounds normal. Sorry,
Actually I'm a bit bemused now that I think about it, you are aware that darker complexioned people Asian/Polynesian etc do "show" somewhat more the blood flow and accompanying blushing affect? If you did not notice it before is it possible he has ideas of what a woman looks like from somewhere other than reality?
actually i am very unsure. the thing is i started seeing someone and he is also repulsed by the thought of it. its very demeaning.
