yeast infection

Recently I came down with an upper respiratory infection and the doctor prescribed me a penicillin to clear it up. I told the doctor that I had a yeast infection the last time I took an antibiotic. I purchased a probiotic but didnt take it till after the 3rd day of medication and the damage was done already. I got a yeast infection and I have had one before due to antibiotics so I knew what it was. On Saturday the doctor prescribed me biaxin, a different antibiotic, and one dose of fluconazole 150mg. I am still taking the antibiotic for another week. My question is since it is monday and the redness and swelling has gone down, but not the discharge will the yeast infection go away even if I'm still on antibiotics? (Looked today redness and swelling went down, but discharge is still present)

Well this is really my first one and I've taken antibiotics before I just didn't take probiotics this time I slipped up. Usually it goes away for me. My gyn told me it was only a little bit not excessive and my discharge has decreased. I got my period today so the yeast will be pushed out but the blood as well. As far as getting into my respiratory system I'm keen on seeing the doctor for any little thing. I don't eat a lot of sugar have no desire for
It and eat small meals daily so I think my diet is not to bad especially since I eat a lot of greens. Thanks for the advice though!

I unfortunately have a lot of experience with Candida albicans (the most common cause of yeast/fungus infection). When candida proliferates, it can become a serious pathogen affecting any or all of the body's organs. Its favorite foods are antiobiotics, prednisone and sugars. The common fungicide, mentioned above, is usually only briefly effective. After some  weeks the condition often returns (because the organisms mutate). It can have really bad side effects.

Candida made a home in my respiratory system. Very nasty and almost did me in. My cure centered on diet, selected supplements and, most important, Lugol's solution (potassium iodide), an old-fashioned remedy with no side effects

Yea I guess I was just feeling gross I went to the gyn instead of my primary doctor and they have me the anti fungal you insert at bed time. My question is I heard these creams sometimes will cause a missed period since I'm supposed to get my period tomorrow and don't have cramping could this be true in my case?

Hi!
I usually have my patients take fluconazole at the end of their course of antibiotic therapy if possible.  Sometimes if the antifungal is finished significantly before the antibiotic, we repeat the antifungal.
Hope this helps!
