Anxiety over possible HIV infection and HIV related Cancer

Hi Doctor,

I am 28 yrs old.  I have 2 instances of possible exposure to HIV.
1. 4 Years back a sex worker gave kiss on my lips, no saliva exchanged. Just a closed mouth kiss which lasted for 2 or 3 secs, I had to push her away.  Both we drunk.
2. 3 Years back, While trying to have intercourse with a sex worker my condom came off before I penetrate. So I guess I might have let my thing into her 1 or 2 times and surely not more than that since she realized the condom wasn't there immediately and stopped me. I washed with water. I have foreskin so I heard the risk of infection is more.

Now I am diagnosed with Nodular Lymphocyte Predominant Hodgkin s Lymphoma.   I am really going mad. Will the root cause of the lymphoma be caused by the HIV infection. I assume I was having the lymphoma for sometime since it has spread to my spleen too.   I have given my blood sample for HIV test, but I am too much impatient since the result would take some time.

Please Help. What are the chances of me getting infected with HIV from the above two instances.

Thanks

There is no chance at all of you picking uup HIV from the first episode...no chance at all ever even if she was HIV positive. There is an extremely low risk of you picking up HIV from the second episode and I do not believe you did. Lymphoma's are common unfortunately and certainly the majority are not rekated to HIV disease. You will though have to wait until you get your final blood result. Merv

Thanks a lot Doctor.

I have one additional doubt. Usually how long does HIV infection take to develop a cancer.

I guess I had the 2nd instance of risk around 2008 December, and its been close to 30 months(2.5 yrs) till now. I had this stomach pain which was later diagnosed as lymphoma for 1 year and few months.

Can HIV destroy the immune system so quickly and develop a cancer such as lymphoma in 1.5 yrs.  I am a medium alcohol consumer and a smoker but became  a social drinker/smoker after I got that stomach pain since it was initially diagnosed as ulcer.

Am very concerned about HIV is because I heard usually Lymphoma causes a lump in throat which is missing for me. My throat is fine. But my spleen has a 6.6 lesion. So I guess the lymphoma should have be caused by an infection. Thats why I am more interested in knowing whether  it could be due to HIV infection.

Thanks
