Follow-up 8/23/11

Dear Dr. Jose,
1. Had at 10 weeks - Ora Sure Rapid Test = negavtive. Previous tests:  at 2 weeks Home Access Blood Patch=neg; At 6 weeks Ora Sure Rapid Test = negavtive.  10 week test was slow in generating result. Could this
have affected the result ?
2. Should I have a 12th week test ?
3. Since I developed strep throat ( which seems to be getting better) I have developed sore and burning gums. Does this have any significance for HIV?
4. My major concern is that I have experienced since being exposed an accumulation of symptoms ( low grade temp., red rash on left wrist, sore throat and strep throat, sore and burning gums).  All of these according to various articles on the Internet are early signs of HIV.  I am just wondering with the accumulation of symptoms that I have
not sero converted despite the negative test results.
5. Given all of this,  should I feel confident that further testing will be negative ?  I assume that you have a record or recall of my previous questions dealing with the actual exposure and risks.

Thank you for your time, advice and understanding.

Hello

I've looked back at your previous post and Jose's answer and I repeat the answer here for you again:-

Thank you for your post.
There is no risk of HIV infection in any of the sexual activities described on your post.  Therefore I can assure you that your sore throat cannot be related with HIV.  Streptococcal tonsillitis does not always respond to amoxicillin, but as you mention, it can also be glandular fever or infectious mononucleosis.  You need to consult with your doctor; you might need a throat swab as well as a blood test.

There doesn't seem to be any further issue other than a collection of vague symptoms which in your anxiety you have added up to be HIV related symptoms. I do not think they are.

If you think the HIV test malfunctioned then the obvious answer is to do another and repeat it.

Best regards, Sean
