Dr. Sean and Dr. Jose, this post intends to be the final one in order to close this chapter of my life. I had to do the HVI DUO test again due to some mistake of my doctor here in SP. Because of that I've changed the doctor here and the new one asked me for another test round which I did (I got my blood collected again yesterday after 35 days of my possible exposure). The result of this test (DUO) just came out now with a negative result (I tested negative for HIV I/II + p24 after 35 days of my possible exposure - 5th week). Is this result reliable and conclusive even considering it was done at 35 days and not 28 days as per your suggestion? The second thing is my new doctor also requested a PCR RNA test which also was done. The results for ths test are due to come out tomorrow. Can I expect a different result here than the one I got from the DUO??? Plase I am really for all my anxiety and I am very thankfull for your support and knowledge. Pedro
please help me for the last time...
Dr. Jose, despite of you saying saying I did not need to be testes I've decided to test myself at the day 13 after the encounter I've descrived above. The result came out only 4 days after the blood colecting within a negative (I did the the HIV DUO test = HIV I/II + p24). In other td, Dr. Sean has recomended to me (just for the piece of my mind) to get tested at the 28th day after the encounter (with a DUO) which I also did at the 27th day. However, the result is taking longer than the previous one to come out (I went to colect the blood last Wednesday and the result should come out this Friday = around 10 days). I am becoming nervous about that....It should be something wrong with the result (i.e. positive so they decided to re-test again...)???? FYI today I am at 33rd day post event and as far as I could notice I did not have any sore throat, fever (nothing above 37,3), rash, mouth sores, .....What is your opinion, is just a matter of my anxiety??? Thanks, Pedro
ps - please let me know if I have to pay again for this question that I'll do it...
Dear Doctors, I'm really sorry to keep bothering you again and again but I really would like to get your answers about my last post. I swear this is my final post/comment about it. If my anxiety stays at high level (as it is now) I will look for help at another group dedicated to that.
I understood that the only risk I may have would be getting fingered with a girl's finger having a large amount of blood streaming out of an open wound. But this open wound and the bleeding would be something which I could see it? it would be visible (ie: enough to leave blood over the vibrator, condom, etc)???
Thank you again and please your comment is very important to me.
Kind regards,
Pedro
Dr. Sean - thank you for your reply. Dr. Jose said I do not need to worry about what happened to me (neither to be tested) as fingering does not involve any risk for HIV infection even with cuts on her finger and been penetrated by a vibrator (covered by a condom) right after. He also said I would require large amounts of blood streaming out from an open wound. So what I meant with my question was it would be visible for me any open wound with such amount of bleeding?? I couldn't see any bleeding on her finger and also I didn't notice any open wound/cut there either.. I posted two examples but I am not sure if they were appropriatte to demonstrate what I wanted to say...by the way I did not understando the last post above (icxc)...
if one was to have protected sex and a small cut on the urethra and tested negative after six weeks with a rapid blood test 4th generation would you consider him to be safe
Hi Good Morning,
Jose is up to his eyes in clinic today so please excuse me answering on his behalf.
You've asked "...large amounts of infected blood streaming out of an open wound..." - and what this means.
Pedro - I think this is very obvious indeed - large is large.
best wishes, Sean
Dr. Jose, it my again. Sorry...I promisse this is my final post about it.
When you say "...large amounts of infected blood streaming out of an open wound..." what did you exactly want to mean? It would be a totally visible thing (like, her finger turning red because of the blood, the vibrator with blood after her touching it...).
I am more relaxed now after what you wrote to me yesterday. I also went to see a doctor friend of mine in SP and he said almost the same things that you've said. As I am a married man one of my biggest concerns is about my wife so that's is the reason why I am being so repetitive in my comments...Please I'm sorry about that...
Kind regards,
Pedro
Tks again...actually my first name is pedro paulo...but don't me ask why I cannot either understand...I'll try to not worry about it even being so dificult...kind regards, paulo
Hi there again,
Is it Pedro or is it Paulo? I'm confused. Never mind!
Yes, your understanding is fully correct and you do not need to be tested.
Kind regards,
Dr José
Dr Jose, thank you for your reply.
There is just one more question I would like to ask you: reading your reply I understood that the chances of her blood getting in contact with mine are remote (because if she had any open wound I would see it). Even tough if that was the case, the amount of possible blood she could carried inside my anus would be insuficient to cause an infection on me even with my anus bleeding. Is my understanding correct?
Do you really believe I dont need to be tested to be sure that nothing bad happened?
I need to calm down but it is not an easy thing....
Best wishes,
Paulo
Hello Pedro,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome ot our HIV forum.
From the description of the events, I do not believe that they posed any real risk at all of HIV infection. Fingering does not involve any risk of HIV infection, even if she was positive and had a cut on her finger. You would require large amounts of infected blood streaming out of an open wound, whcih is certainly not the case here. Having been penetrated with a vibrator covered by a condom would be completely safe without any risk of HIV infection, even if there was bleeding from your anus thereafter.
I do not believe you need to worry. There is no need of testing either.
Best wishes,
Dr José
