Seroconversion while taking antibiotics

Dr. Jose,

I have asked you questions about possible hiv infection, and I had a question concerning your response and and one quesitons concerning medication.  I know you mentioned that I couldnt get hiv from kissing, even if I had bleeding gums, but what about the case that the CDC had posted years ago.  Can you give me your thoughts on this and my other quetions.

During the time that I felt  I put myself at risk  I got sick about 3 and 1/2 weeks afterwards.  Then I got better and got sick again with sinus or flu infection two weeks later Jan 15th.  This lasted another 3 weeks.  At 11 weeks I got what looks like hives and I had unprotected sex with my wife two weeks ago and now she is achey and has had headaches that she dosent normally have.  Today I broke out with a rash with small red raised bumps.  I am really am scared Dr. Jose,

My question is, are my negative tests conclusive even though my hiv/pcr rna test was negative at 8 weeks,  and hiv test negative at around 10 or 11 weeks?    My primary question, since I have been taking antibiotics practically ever since my incident, Two rounds of zpack from 12/28  to 1/15 and Levaquinn from  2/10 until yesterday.

Question would taking antibiotics prevent me from seroconverting and the test were possible false negative?

I am really scared now because I had sex with my wife, she appears to have ars symptoms as well as me with the rash?

Please be patient with me and let me one more time your thoughts.

Thank you so much.  Should I get tested again this week, I think it should be about 12 weeks since the incident.

I still feel nausea from time to time, and I agree that some of it may be psycho-sematic.  I got a negative test result at between 10 and 11 weeks.  The incident occured on Dec 5th.  would you classifiy the test run on the 17th of february 10 or 11 weeks, and is that really long enough?

Thank you so much for putting up with me Dr. Jose, I am just really worried.

You have now been advised by FOUR doctors in MH that you do not have HIV. You have 18 posts over FOUR HIV forums about your kissing non-event, and you have received the SAME answer every single time.

You've been banned from posting in the other HIV forums for repetitive posting, and now are using this forum to post the same anxiety-driven questions. You have four threads in this forum alone over the past two weeks.

Do you see a pattern here? Do you see the big picture? You are unable to accept the advice that you are receiving on MH. It is clearly not working for you. You think your problem is HIV but what it really is is anxiety, and your attempts to solve the problem are not helping it and are probably making it worse.

I implore you, PLEASE see a mental health professional for your anxiety. A mental health professional can help address the root cause of it, whether it is guilt, a chemical imbalance, etc.  The numerous answers that you have received on MH are clearly NOT addressing the root cause of your anxiety.

Dr. Cummings,

I am very worried now because I am now having what looks like ARS symptoms.  I am now getting a rash.  I have small red spots or bumps appear.  I usually start itching first, and then a small red spot will appear.  I am very scared.  I know that my encounter was brief, "French Kissing" , I dont know the condition of the girl and she wont take an hiv test.  Is it possible to have hiv symptoms at 12 weeks?  I am so scared.  If I had the hiv pcr/rna test at 8 weeks and it showed "No hiv-1 detected" on viral load could I still be positive?  My standard hiv test was negative at 8 weeks and at 10 and a half weeks.  I was feeling better and I had unprotected sex with my wife on Valentines, but now she is having headaches and I am having a rash.  I went today at 12 weeks from the incident and got another test, but I know the results wont be in for another two or three days and I am going crazy.  The incident that the CDC reported was a couple he was hiv infected, she was not.  they both had gingivitus and had bleeding gums after brushing at night.  They would have sex and kissing after flossing and report stated that she contracted hiv from the blood to blood transmission from french kissing.

This is why I am so scared.  I read that when you have a rash appear that usually means you are at a period where you are seroconverting.  Do you think my tests were false negatives?  I know I am asking again, because I am so worried and I am experiencing all of these unusual symptoms related to ars.

If I wasnt generating antibodies at 8 or 10 weeks, would my PCR/Rna test have been undetectable?  I am so so scared.  Please be very specific in your responses so I can understand everything.

Please let me know your thoughts Dr. Cummings

Hello there, Jose, lucky man, has a day off today, so I'm asnwering in his place.

I'm afraid you'll need to elaborate precisely on the CDC statement with a link as I don't know what you're referring to.

Your first question - you are HIV negative and the antibiotics would not make any difference at all to the results. You are fine.

With reference to the further questions, you do not need to test again. The HIV tests you have had are solid and negative. Whatever your wife has is not HIV contracted from you. You're mind is working disporportionate overtime. Common things are common and it is overwhelmingly likely that she just has a minor infection.

Best regards, Sean
