Wrong turn in life

Hi Doctors

I am single at the moment and work 2 weeks away 1 week off.

My history in the past has had 4 cases of unprotected viginal sex with known girl friends.
I have only had one case of clymidia in the past which I got fixed with 2 applications of antibiotics.

On my last break I went and saw an escort / prostitute in the gold coast, Queensland in Australia.
Her website stated safe sex practices used. She was white and 34.
I visited her and she performed unprotected oral sex. After that she tried to get on my penis unprotected.
I said no but then she pressed onto it for about 10 seconds before I got her off it.
She said she was clean and had nothing when I was leaving, but I doubt this by her actions.
I did not know about PEP.

Approximately 3 days after the exposure I started to get a sore throat that has lasted to the present day (today 11 days after). Glands where swollen for about 4 days of this.
In addition to this I started getting frequent urination urges along with some numbness or the odd sharp pain about day 8 after the exposure.

I drove 110 km from the work camp yesterday to the GP in the nearest township.
He is testing me for Gonerrha and Clymidia, throat was inflamed but gave nothing.

I started going a bit mad worrying about the chance of HIV transmission.
I didn't sleep for a few days, didn't want to eat much and couldn't concentrate.
I read a few similar cases on your forums and relaxed a bit. I also talked to another worker out at work who had similar cases in his earlier life.

Could you please advise me of the chances I have of transmission of HIV?
Could you advise me about what the sore throat could suggest?

Thank you

Thank you Doctor.
My writing did get misinterpreted though.
When I wrote she pressed on to it, I should have written there was penetration.

Please advise

Good Morning,

I am sorry for the long delay in replying to you.

I think in reality there is no risk to you of HIV contraction. Being sucked will not result in you having an HIV infection.

Unprotected penetrative sex can result in HIV infection if one of the parties is HIV positive. However, in your case, you seem to say there was no penetration just genital rubbing. I do not believe this will present a risk of HIV.

You are correct to test for other STD's such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea as both of these may be transmitted by sucking.

On balance I think you are and will be absolutely fine.

Kind regards and again, my apologies for being so slow, Sean
