Are These symptoms, possible risk?

Hello and thanks for a great forum. I'm curious if you think these are symptoms of hiv or std, staring thinking about it now am worried. About 10 months ago (beginning of February) I had  less than one minute of unprotected vaginal intercourse and stopped because of no protection. I'm 33 circumcised and the female was 20, unknown history. Two days later I was worried about stds, I had no symptoms buy preventively took 1 gram of z pack. The day after that took 4 days of cipro. I was paranoid, still no symptoms. A month later I had  appendicitis and was in hospital for two days, don't know of has any relation. Five months later developed rash near eye, dr stated thinks it is periorbital dermatitis, it never has really gone away. At seven months had a day with bad headache then felt like all the glands in the back and front of my neck were sore(no define lump). That last about two weeks. Then developed a rash on my trunk of body front and back. Started like small ring worm like spots then was all over. Was not itchy at all. I googled it and some pics looked like pitarya rosea. Finally went away. Now two weeks ago developed the same sore feeling on neck and then small pain for a few days in arm pit. Very congested feeling in ears also sore throat.Looks like rash may start to reappear. I have not had a fever at all. Started to get nervous about it especially after google symptoms. What do you guy think? Is the time frame for  symptoms correct for any thing. Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forum.

With under a minute of unprotected sex, your risk for any STD was low -- and virtually zero for HIV (which would be very rare in a 20 year old woman in Florida or anywhere else in the US).  Your symptoms are not typical for any STD, including HIV.  The antibiotics you took would have prevented or cured most bacterial STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis).

But since this is the HIV forum, presumably that's the one you are most concerned about.  As just noted, the chance of catching HIV in this situation is exceedingly low.  From a risk standpoint or on the basis of symptoms, you don't even need to be tested.  However, I still recommend you be tested, because the negative result will probably reassure you more than anything I can say.

So have an HIV test.  As just implied, you can definitely expect a negative result.  Feel free to return with a follow-up comment and let me know the result.  But since speculation is pointless when a clear answer is so readily available, I won't have any further comments about it until then.

I hope this has helped.  Happy new year--  HHH, MD
