Asthma Med Hiv Testing

Hi Doctor, I have got tested (HIV-1 Antibody and HIV 1/O/2 Abs, Qual - STD Test Express website - Labcorp) 4 months after potential exposure. I took Primatene mist for asthma 2 months back but my doctor asked me to stop using it and prescribed PREDNISONE, ALBUTEROL inhaler and BUDESONIDE and I have been taking these for past two months. My tests came negative. My question are 1) Is test conclusive? 2) Does medications mentioned above cause false negative?

3) It was 8 panel test which includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HSV 1, HSV 2, HIV  and syphilis. All except HSV 1 came negative. I am not worried about HSV 1 from internet research but can I consider that the test is conclusive and move on...

4) Can I have unprotected sex with my girlfriend

You continue with unreasonable anxiety about an exposure that carried little or no risk.  In any case, your test results are conclusive and you can safely continue unprotected sex with your regular partner.

There are no medicines that have any effect on HIV test reliability.  Potent chemotherapy and immunosuppressive drugs may do so (in theory, but not actually known to occur), but the medications you are taking have no effect.

MedHelp permits a maximum of 2 questions every 6 months on the professionally moderated forums (see Terms and Conditions).  This is your third since July and would normally be deleted without reply.  I'm letting this one stand, but there will be no ongoing follow-up comments.  Expereince shows that continuing to answer "yes but" or "did you really mean" questions just prolongs anxiety.

Do your best to move on without worry.
