Dr's- Thanks again for this great site. This is a follow-up question from my last posting on Dec. 7. Just wanted your clinical opinion on any further testing for HIV. As I stated previously, I had unprotected oral/vaginal intercourse on Nov. 11 with a CSW. Here's the testing done so far:
7 days post-exposure: HIV antibody, syphillis, herpes, clam/gon. All negative
14 days post-exposre: NAAT Pool RNA HIV, PCR DNA HIV, HIV antibody, herpes, syphillis. All negative
28 days post-exposure: PCR DNA HIV, HIV antibody, syphillis, clam/gon. All negative
35 days post-exposure: Rapid HIV antibody test
I know it's a ton of testing (and probably not needed) but I have a family and I'd rather know sooner than later (my wife knows of the mistake and changes have been made in my life to repair and move forward). My question is based on the info above is a test at 8 and 12 weeks clinically necessary or a psychological need for my peace of mind. Thanks again for your time.
