Oral sex carries little or no risk for HIV, especially from the receptive (oral) partner to the insertive (penile) partner. The chance of other STDs is higher, but still low, especially with such brief, fleeting contact.
All people who are sexually active outside mutually monogamous relationships should have routine STD and HIV testing from time to time, like once a year, even if all exposures seemed safe at the time. Partly it's for reassurance, partly for the possibility of an unsafe event that was forgotten etc, e.g. because of alcohol or drugs. If you haven't been tested recently, perhaps this is a good time, while it's on your mind. But not because of either of the sexual events reported here.
Welcome back to the forum. However, again you are asking about a sort of sexual contact that cannot transmit HIV. Please don't be worried! As I explained in your thread a year ago, "...if a bare penis (no condom) is not inserted INSIDE another person's vagina, rectum or (maybe) mouth, there is no risk of transmission. The sorts of contact you describe here carry no measurable risk of HIV transmission...." The same is true this time.
As for your symptoms, a cold of course is a million times more common as a cause of sore throat than HIV is; and sore throat alone, without fever and other symptoms, isn't typical for ARS anyway.
So if this is your only potential exposure, you shouldn't be worred and don't need testing. Of course see a doctor if your sore throat continues or you otherwise remain concerned.
Please keep the main advice in mind if and when you become worried again in the future about HIV risks. No penile insertion, no risk. It really is that simple!
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
also Dr, I have an STD question. I was given oral a few weeks ago and came. as I ejaculated, the man licked the tip of my penis (no insertion). Is this an HIV/STD possibliity also? SHoudl I get tested?
