This is a non-specific test for herpes virus which gives you little useful infromation. It tells you that you have antibodies to some sort of herpes virus (HSV-1, HSV-2, or possibly even a cross reaction with the virus that causes chicken pox). HSV-1 is the virus that causes cold sores- here in the U.S. over 60% of adults have it. HSV-2 causes genital herpes. Nearly all adults have had chickne pox as a child. The test does not tell you which virus you might have. It is also an antibody test for antibodies reflecting old, established infections, not recently acquired one.
So, you really learned almost nothing that is useful from this test. You do not know which herpes virus you have, it does not tell you how long you have had it, it does not tell you where your infection you have. I would not interpret it as having ANY relationship to your very low risk encounter mentioned above.
You should not worry that you acquired herpes from the encounter you described. There is no evidence that you did- none.
This thread is now over. There will be no further replies. EWH

thank you for your reply.
i just had one last followup question, please help me understand.l
i just had a full panel std profile test, everything else came back negative except the following:-
the report says
HSV 1+2-IgGAb to Herpes Simplex Virus,serum REACTIVE (8.18) b yC L I A
HSV1+2-IgMAb to Herpes Simplex Virus, serum by EIA NEGATIVE (0.16)
what does this mean in terms of herpes and what should be done next?
I'm sorry that you continue to worry about the essentially no risk encounter that we interacted about last month. You need to determine a way to move forward and not let these unwarranted fears continue to worry you. The "what if" questions below are, in some cases repetitive and involve tests you did not need to have to start with. My answers will be brief.
Q-1 - the HIV RNA qualitative test tested only HIV -1 AND it said it does not test for HIV 2, but i took an HIV duo test with it at 3 weeks, will this take care of HIV2 detection at 3 weeks too.
HIV-2 is rare and limited to persons who acquire infection in West Africa. The HIV RNA, despite what the people who sold it to you said, is not recommended for HIV diagnosis and is designed only to detect HIV-1. It would however detect most cases of HIV-2 as well.
Q-2 - The hiv duo tests p24 antigen for only HIV1 and antibodies for HIV 1 & HIV 2, could this be a gap in the test to not test for HIV 2 protein?
There is no need for further testing.
Q-3 - Only 1 HIV duo test after 28 days is enough or any followup tests should be done?
See above- n need for further testing.
Q-4 - how different is HIV1 and HIV2, and would the HIV RNA tests for HIV1 be reactive if they found HIV2 in the blood?
Repetitive- see above.
Q-5 - The tests i have done are sufficient and conclusive or should i continue to obsess about hiv2?
Repetitive. There is no reason for you to continue to obsess about HIV-1 or HIV-2.
Q-6 - is there a difference between condom tear and condom break or both are catastrophic and you cannot miss?
Condom break and condom tear mean the same thing and in both cases are obvious when they occur. If your condom looked intact, and you said it did, then it was.
I recommended no need for further concern or for testing before. You chose to go on and ask the same questions on the International Forum, to test, and now to repeat your questions. There is still no need for testing. If you want to waste your money you could just burn it. EWH
