Hiv exposure and worried

3 weeks ago I traveled to costa rica and had protected oral and vaginal sex with four prostitute , 2 at a time 2 separate occasions. I have been diagnosed with hsv-2 prior and was not on any medication at the time. At the time of sex I had  a semi open sore on the front portion of my scrotum close to the base of my penis when erect . I say semi open because it was scabbed up 3 days before the exposure, however i peeled the scab and messed with it by making puss come out daily , puss would not come out without squeezing. Earlier in the day I was in the ocean fro about 15 minutes and also in a chlorinated pool for well over an hour. The sore had a white center  but i applied Neosporin and a loose bandage on the first encounter and only Neosporin on the second. I am almost 100% that some vaginal fluid came in contact with the sore at the time of sex. I also showered after both encounters within 10-15 minutes. I immediately began to stress myself out afterwards and encountered a first signs of a hsv breakout 3 days after. The next day( 4 days after exposure) I had a minor soar throat with ear popping when i swallow, which has stayed for about 2 1/2 weeks  . I saw a doctor and  he said it had minor irritation and was a viral sore throat and took a culture, and prescribe an antihistamine and a nasal spray for night time, the severity is the most in am upon waking. I have been a hypochondriac and  hope that these symptoms are stress and travel related because i traveled out of the country the week prior as well. All people that i trqaveled with had a simliar sore throat but theres subsided after a couple days. I also have a minor rash on both sides of my groin between my scrotum and inner thigh, my dermatologist said is most likely a heat rash because I live in a very humid climate and have a history of heat rashes in that general area. I believe  the rash was present prior but It has lingered for days prior.  Do I have concern for HIV infection? If so what are the odds?

Absolutely.  In fact most cases of thrush occur in persons who do not have HIV.  EWH

I am concerned that the sore could have been a herpes sore, does that change the situation what so ever??

Welcome to our Forum.  You are not at any risk for HIV.  It is unlikely that any of your partners had HIV and even if they did, your sex was protected.  No risk. There sore on your scrotum does not change that either.

As for your symptoms, they are not related to HIV and are likely a cold or other minor viral infection acquired in the course of your travels. They started too soon to be HIV related and do not fit the full picture of early HIV infection.

You have nothing to worry about and do not need testing.  EWH
