ON THE EDGE :(

Hello Dr.Hook
My name is Edward I am a 19 year old teen who is on the verge of losing his mind! I have never been so scared/stressed in my whole life.... I have made 2 horrible mistakes that i am going to regret for the rest of my lfie! I had unprotected sex on two seperate occasions with the same girl, a 18 year old out of Los angeles.... I believed her and i put my trust in her..... She reassured me that she was clean from all STDs, I found out on August the 12th i got Chlamidya from her and this honestly changed my life, i have never been so ashamed in my 19 years of living... The two times we had sex were on May 21st and June 12th... Exactly 10.5 weeks after my second encounter on August 26th I began feeling extreamly sick, I developed muscle aches, night sweats, low fever 101 and a light sore throat "Symtoms only lasted 2 days".... was this ARS at "10.5 weeks" post encounter??? I decided that night i was going to get a HSV1/2 test done and a HIV test done, My HSV results came back negative as well as my HIV it was <1.0 NON REACTIVE, I tested threw health care partners and i believe the tests were done at LabCorp. My main questions are....
1.) Were my risks  high risk encounters?
2.) If what i expirenced was ARS symtoms at 10.5 weeks would that effect my test i took the same night? HIV non reactive results?
3.)Would my non reactive result be accurate from my first encounter on May 21st? "90 days after exposure"? and would they also be conlusive from my second encounter June 12th "74 days"?
4.) I have read post that Dr s. Handsfield and Hook have answered on HIV testing and they both say after 8 weeks 99% OF TEST RESULTS ARE CONCLUSIVE. Would this be true from my encounters that accured 13.5 and 10.5 weeks prior to being tested?
5.) That night before they took my blood doctor gave me pill for chlamidya, and two shots one for chlamidya ghonnaria ect. and the other shot was for i believe muscle aches and fever, could anything the doctor gave me effected my results?

A number?  As I said, with the test results you have there is zero risk that you have HIV.  In other words, the chances you would have a reactive blood test are zero.

This will end this thread.  Take care.  EWH

I am going to delete your last question. You signed your name and you do not need your name all over the internet about this.  I'll just answer your question.  Please don't give your name again.

1. this is a "what if" question. They are rarely helpful. Nonetheless the answer is no, I have not.

2.  Lab Corp is a high respected, high quality lab.  You can trust their results.

3.  No, it does not matter whether or not you ejaculated.

4. There is no need for a five month test. I am confident that it will show the same result as your earlier test.  Take is a not needed but reassuring.

Take care.  EWH

Welcome to the Forum.  I saw your earlier interactions on the HIV Community site and agree with the advice you were given at that time.  Before I answer your specific questions, let me remind you of a couple of important facts:

A.  Chlamydia is much more common than HIV and much more easily transmitted than HIV.
B. I have no doubt that your partner thought she was STD free.  In many people chlamydial infections are asymptomatic.  You should not blame anyone for getting chlamydia. It was bad luck and will not adversely affect you or your partner.
C.  HIV is rare among heterosexual men and women.  Of the less than 60,000 cases of HIV that will occur among the 360 million Americans, about 2/3rds will occur in men who have sex with other men.  Your exposures to this partner were not terribly high risk.

Now, let's work through your questions:
1.  No, I would not say these were high risk encounters.  No unprotected encounter is risk free but this partner was rather low risk.
2.  ARS does not occur at 10.5 weeks.  Your symptoms were due to something else. Your negative HIV tests have already proven that you do not have HIV.
3.  Yes, your results are accurate and should be believed.
4.  Yes, our statements are true.  Again, believe your test results.
5.  No the medications you doctor would not have effected your results.

You are in the clear.  It is time for you to put your unfortunate luck behind you and move forward. EWH
