Shaved genitals, hiv risk
Dear Dr.HHH /Hook,
I am a male/late twenties/uncircumcised. I went to a massage parlor, women’s HIV status is unknown of a Latin background. I sorry to go into such detail...I am very worried!
What scares me is that I also had just 8 hours back shaved my testicles/**** hair with a razor. I had ‘protected’ sex with a condom, however when I was on top I felt that the condom was slipping, she was holding the base of the condom. We eventually changed positions, she put a new condom on and she was on top. I am not sure if the condom was 100% effective, what ended up happening is I took the condom off. The women freaked out, asking why I took it off? I asked her to lick my testicles while I masturbated. All I remember is my penis/testicles felt extremely wet when masturbating (pre-***/vaginal fluid?).
The results:
*16 days after incident - P24 antigen test that came back negative, blood test.
* 30 days after I went to the doctor because of heartburn possible anxiety given Prevacid (Lansoprazole). Went to an ENT doc because of my white tongue/bumps he said nothing wrong.
*So at 52 days (7 weeks and two days) I took a blood test for HIV which came back negative. I also had a urine test and I also have had a two swabs test taken for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea (doc recommended for burning feeling) that also came back negative. No STDs detected.
- Ultrasound for scrotum/testis and pelvic,doc said is fine. Prescribed Tetracycline, gone to the walk-in clinic a couple of times after, nothing wrong.
Over 70 days from incident,feel at times heat from my testicles/anus/feet. However when I touch it is sometimes not hot. This was present a week to two weeks before the 52 day test, the tip opening of the penis at times feels sore. On anti-anxiety pill now.
Could you please advise me about this heat issue? Sex while genitals were shaved, risk assessment, the reliability of my tests? (tests done in Ontario, Canada).

The shaved genitals/HIV risk question has been discussed many times on this forum. There is no known increased risk of HIV transmission as a result of genital area shaving, and there are all kinds of biological and anatomic reasons for no signficant enhanced risk. Further, as we have pointed out incessantly on this forum, in the US and most industrialized countries it is the relatively rare sex worker who has HIV. Finally, we have also pointed out repeatedly that 1) with modern HIV antibody tests, newly infected people always have positive results within 6-8 weeks (i.e., your 52 day test is highly reliable) and 2) such test results always outweigh other potential risk indicators, like possible exposure, symptoms, etc. And your symptoms don't hint at HIV anyway.
Bottom line: All is well. Your risk of HIV was virtually zero due to the condom use plus low chance your partner had HIV; your test results show you weren't infected; and neither your genital shaving nor your symptoms changes that judgment.

Your Professional opinion helped to decrease the anxiety and guilt i had about the encounter, (first and last time ever engaging with a Sex Worker)
and my family knew about the incident due to extreme stress. I am happy to report that I took my 12 week conclusive Insti Hiv test which was negative :-). I hope to move on, started doing charity work once a week for homeless in Toronto area.
I just have one lingering question, I was prescribed APO-TERA 250mg Capsules (Tetracycline), the course was for a total for 7 days which ended on August 25th!
The reason i ask is, the info sheet for Tetracycline states that "This Medicine May Affect certain lab test results. Male Sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this medicine.
I took my test yesterday Sept 15th (a full 21 days after my last pill), and i right to assume that this Will not affect my results, since it is an antibiotic?
I am sorry, this will be my last post, i will move on, thanks!

This forum has no advice about non-HIV, non-STD symptoms. But certainly I don't recommend treating irritated parts of the body with additional irritants (which I believe is what green tea oil is). People with unexplained symptoms should try gentle, common sense things (maybe a moisturizing oil?), and see a health care provider if the problem continues.
