Very scared situation

Hello Doctor....
This question may be difficult...
4 days ago I was in New Orleans on bourbon street and got really drunk.  About later in the night I completely forgot everything.  All I remember was walking into an alley with some woman and then ending up at bar in that alley where she said to me "you have to buy me a drink first".  Next thing I know I'm pulling money out of the atm (only $40 according to my bank). After that is where it was a blur. My atm card was stolen when I woke up the next day and all these transactions were made

I am scared out of my mind that I may have done something with this woman but I can't remember a thing.  I'm not sure if she drugged me while we were at the bar or if I was just that drunk.

My questions to you are in relation to if something did happen but I wanted to provide you with the details first.

1)  if we did do something,  is there a way I could tell the next morning?
2) what is the likelihood that she wore a condom on me because I didn't have any on me?
3) when's the earliest I can get tested?  I have a gf and want to have unprotected sex with her.
4)  I believe the HIV rates in New Orleans especially African American prostitutes are very high.  Is that correct?
5)  is it even possible for me to even get "hard" if I was that drunk or if drugged?

Would appreciate any help as I am freaking out here and have no idea what to do.

Hi Doctor...not sure how the forum works and if I can continue to ask you a question on this thread...hoping you can reply to my question:

So it's been 5 weeks since my incident and today I tested negative with the oraquick at home swab test. I wanted to ask you the accuracy of this test since I know it says 3 months on the box but I wanted to get an idea.  I know on the forum you mentioned that the test may be 90-95% accurate at 5 weeks.  Is that correct?

Also what's the likelihood that the infection could come after a 5 week negative test result from the oral swab test.  Would you trust this test? Look forward to hearing from you.  Thanks a lot doctor.  Want to get my anxiety reduced!

Also would those oraquick at home tests be somewhat reliable at 2 weeks?  Sorry for all the follow up questions.

This was very traumatizing. I don't care about the money being lost but want to make sure I did not do anything stupid.

Hi Doctor..thanks a lot for your comments.  What if I somehow paid for the services beforehand and we had sex but I can't remember a thing.  I am just scared that we didn't use a condom if we did.

Also if I was only blackout drunk, would I remember bits and pieces of having sex because I can't remember a thing!

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to comment.  My guess is that you were probably robbed and perhaps drugged but there is little chance that you had sex during the period that you do not remember.  Practically speaking, having sex just would have put her at risk if you were infected and she already had your wallet and credit cards.

In answer to your specific questions:
1)  if we did do something,  is there a way I could tell the next morning?
You would probably know.  If you were drugged it would be quite difficult to get an erection and as I mentioned above, the person you were with had little to gain by having sex with you.

2) what is the likelihood that she wore a condom on me because I didn't have any on me?
If someone were going to intentionally drug you to have sex with you before robbing you (think of how unlikely that would be), I doubt they would use a condom.  As I said above however, I am most doubtful that any sex was involved.

3) when's the earliest I can get tested?  I have a gf and want to have unprotected sex with her.
You can be tested for common STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia any time more than 3-4 days after sex using a urine test.  There is no reason to test for syphilis or herpes, they would cause sores that you would see.  A conclusive HIV test can be obtained using a 4th generation, combination HIV antigen/antibody test 4 weeks after exposure.  If you test, I am confident that you will find that you were not infected through the encounter you describe above.

4)  I believe the HIV rates in New Orleans especially African American prostitutes are very high.  Is that correct?
Relatively high however even there, the infection rate among commercial sex workers is less than 1 or 2%.  As I have said several time, I would not worry.

5)  is it even possible for me to even get "hard" if I was that drunk or if drugged?
Probably no- see above.

I hope my comments are helpful.  I understand that this event was traumatic but there was little risk for HIV or other STI. EWH
