Weak flu-like symptoms

I had unprotected sex with a 25 yr old male who has had multiple partners about 4.5 weeks ago.  I am now slightly fatigued with strange aches I have never felt before such as a pain on the sides of my right calf that happened only twice for about 1 min each and now moving slight joint/muscle pains that are very weak but present.  It is like very weak flu-like symptoms.  I was wondering if early hiv always shows  strong flu like symptoms or if these weak symptoms could indicate something.  I was around someone who was on antibiotics for strep a few days ago.  These current symptoms began yesterday.

Your symptoms really do not sound like early HIV (ARS). There is much more to this syndrome than muscle aches.  Findings include rash, fevers, muscle aches and much more.  Multiple partners or not, your partner is very unlikely to have HIV and you are very unlikely to have gotten HIV from a single sexual encounter.   If you are concerned, go on and get an HIV test about a week after the onset of your flu-like illness.  If your symptoms were due to HIV (which I am confident they are not) the test would be positive at this time.

You have a cold.  I hope it gets better.  EWH
