hiv question?

Hello DoctormI'm a 22 year old male, about 69 hours ago I went to a massage parlor in a pretty shady area in Toronto,I was coming from a party and I had my share of drinks for the night,I was very drunk and I hardly remember properly,I asked a south korean girl for oral, she got naked,I was touching her all around and I got erect, then I remember she gave me oral with a condom or without I don't remember,I was not ejaculating so she gave me a handjob and I ejaculated...after she started oral I perfectly remember not having vaginal sex with her, I am in doubt about the time when I was touching her without a condom that I may or not have penetrated her and I am sleepless since then with the worry,I remember asking her after I was done that do u always make the guy wear a condom, she said yes even with my boyfriend...the only doubt I have is that I was too drunk, she may or may or not have used a condom or I may or may not have penetrated her...1)do you recommend pep? and based on all I've told you,2)how much risk is my situation and3) what are the odds of one time vaginal sex without condom for a circumsised male because i read hiv is a very fragile virus and difficult to transmit from a woman to a man.4)Lastly about 3 months ago i got a rapid test done from this clinic in Toronto called Hassle Free Clinic, please take a look at the website link i have posted,it has just a brief detail about the test i took,i dont know what rapid test i took so maybe this website will explain the test i took.i am worried that the rapid test i took may have been unreliable because the clinic said that they stopped all rapid testing before in the past aswell as mentioned in this link

please ease my worries,thanks

You should not be at all concerned.  Test results overrule everything else -- exposure history, symptoms, everything.  Even if you had had a high risk exposure, like unprotected vaginal sex, the test result proves you were not infected.

Beleve it.  Let it go.  I won't have any further comments or advice.

Welcome to the forum.

You can relax about this sexual encounter.  There was absolutely no risk of HIV, which is not transmitted by oral sex (or so rarely it can be ignored) or by hand-genital contact -- i.e. genital "touching" cannot transmit the virus.  And HIV currently remains rare in women in all of Canada, regardless of national origin (and is also rare in Korea) -- so the odds are strong our partner was not infected.  To your specific questions:

1) PEP is not recommended in situations like this.

2) This exposure was effectively zero risk for HIV.

3) This is irrelavant, since you didn't have vaginal sex!  But the most commonly quoted estimate (from CDC, the US national public health agency) is 1 chance in 2,000 of HIV transmission for each episode of unprotected vaginal sex, if the woman is infected.

4) All the rapid tests are 100% reliable when done more than 6-8 weeks after exposure.  I don't need to know the specific test or to look at some other website to know that your negative result proves you were not infected.

5, your question below)  No medicines alter the reliability of HIV testing, with the possible exception cancer chemotherapy and potent immunosuppressive drugs.  The medicines and dietary supplements you mention had absolutely no effect.  Your negative HIV test is 100% reliable.

Bottom line:  All is well; for sure you do not have HIV.  Drop all concern about it and go on with your life.

Regards--  HHH, MD

Yes, weight loss is a common manifestation of HIV.  Also of almost every human illness!  And a common manifestation of depression or excess anxiety.

Please re-read my replies above and pay attention this time.  Including "Test results overrule everything else -- exposure history, symptoms, everything."

You don't have HIV.  Believe it.  Any more of this nonsense and I will immediately delete the entire thread.

Sir one last question if you may please answer and i can get on with my life...about three months ago on the 14th of january 2011 i had a low risk exposure,in these 2,3 months i have lost alot of weight like 3,4,5 kgs of weight without exercising or reducing my diet...my question is that is it common that in the early months of hiv like in the initial 1 to 3 months after exposure to lose this much weight...is weight loss a common symptom of hiv infection in the first 1 to 3 months after exposure,if not then when does this much weight loss start to happen in the stage of hiv like how many months or years after exposure, thankyou.Best Regards

Sorry if I misunderstood, but your post is rather disjointed and hard to follow.  In any case, you still describe an exposure that is sufficiently low risk that HIV testing is not warranted except for reassurance.  My comments were pertinent to all women in Canada, including CSWs of any geographic origin.  Probably there is under 1 chance in a thousand that a partner like this has HIV.

Mellow out.  Get tested if you remain nervous.  But this really was a zero risk event.

And one more question i have is that i have clinical depression and mild psychosis and i have been taking 5 mg Olanzapine,2.5mg procyclidine,10mg paroxetine and 0.5mg lorazepam for the last 5 years and cetirizine for my allergies and one multi vitamin called gnc mega men....can these meds give a false negative or a false positive?
And lastly can any medicines or dietary supplements make you test false positive or negative? Because i was taking some weight gainers(optimum nutrition pro complex gainer, cytosport cytogainer) and whey protein(optimum nutrition why protein) while working out,i am still taking them... and i got tested negative while taking all these things 3 months back....
