pain in urethra

Hello doctor.

As mentioned earlier I had anal intercourse before. about thre weeks later,
I am experiecing pain in my urethra. Sometimes it is like a sting and sometimes it is like a needle prick. No discharge and no pain when urinating. I consulted a doctor, he examined my urethra and claimed there is no signs of infection. just a small tear in the skin.

Doctor my question is

1) do HIV cause such pain. If not what could be the cause?
2) I had test three weeks after the intercourse. How reliable it is?

Rapid tests provide accuarte results.  You should believe them.  They perform similarly to other antibody blood tests for HIV.

You need to let the tear heal.  Time and not manipulating it are most important.

Yes anal intercouse can transmit HIV evan without obvious blood.

Sorry, I do not know what drugs you are taking or why.  My advice is to discuss this with your doctor. Such questions are best dealt with in the context of your relationship with your own health care provider.  EWH

Hi, doctor, thanks for the answer. I feel relieved.
Nevertheless, the test I took was the Rapid HIV test (tests for antibodies).
Are the ratio similar to this test?

Doctor gave me a cream to apply. Any suggestions to ease the pain?

and for curosity sake again, when having anal intercourse. It is mentioned that the insertive partner has a lower risk. Does HIV transmits to the penis, only if it contacts blood from the Anus? If for example, a ordinary man have anal intercourse with a positive women, and there is no blood in the rectum or somesort, what are his odds?

Welcome back to our Forum.  We've discussed this exposure before and your new question makes me worry that you have been aggressively examining yourself since then.  If so, the irritation (or tear noticed by the doctor) may be due to this.  Sometimes too much self-examination is not a good thing.  After an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned.  This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times.  As for your specific questions:

1.  No, pain of this sort is not caused by HIV.
2.  At three weeks an HIV test would detect about two-thirds of infections acquired 3 weeks earlier.  At 4 weeks the tests detect over 90% of infections, at 6 weeks over 95% are detectable and after 8 weeks virtually all infections will be detectable.

Take care.  EWH

Hi doctor, sorry for this again. Just to clarify. Recently I am developing allergies for drugs that I always have been consuming. This started about a week after my exposure. My test as mentioned earlier says negative. Should I go for a re-test at 6 months. I am worried now due to the drug allergies.

Hi doctor,

I went for my final test yesterday (86 days/ 12 weeks 2 days) after exposure. My test on the fourth and sixth week were negative. The final test was negative too. The counsellors last words to me "promise me not to come back again". I am happy and relieved now. Thanks for the assurance and assistance you gave me for the past three months. I appreciate yous and the other doctor's service. I am not going back for testing again. Am 100% sure that I am fine. Am I am not going to touch another women besides my wife.

Wish you success in all endeavours

Good day doctor,

One last question. For the past two weeks, I have also experiencing, cold sensations over my body, particularly on my neck (cape) and my arms. I was worried that this could signal something. From your knowledge, do you have anything to share about this.
