very concerned

hi doctor,

first of all great job.

i had a sexual exposure with a woman that i know for 2 years. vaginal sex with a condom but i think the condom slipped for a few mins. this girl is in the united states and i live in the united states. this happened about 2 years back.
i went to an ivf clinic in india about a year and now we have twins a month back. my question is

1) when i gave my sperm in india and we had the baby the ivf clinic in india do not check for hiv. do u think i could have got hiv from the above exposure and in turn my babies would have got the hiv from my sperm.

2) i went and checked for all STDS except hiv 4 weeks back and everything came back negative. do u think i could have got hiv from the brief exposure mentioned above.

thanks a lot

Please re-read my answer.  There is nothing in your description to suggest that you or your baby have HIV.  You need to get an HIV test if you have any concern that you might have HIV.  EWH

Welcome to our Forum.  The probability of HIV being transmitted/acquired in the episode two years ago is very, very low.  Rather than worrying about it, my suggestion would be to go get tested. The only way to be truly sure about having HIV is to have the test.  I predict that, in your case, the test will be negative. At that time you can put aside any concerns you might have about HIV.  As I said, I am confident that the tests will be negative.  EWH
