Hi-
I am quite concerned about my partner as he has recently received a Positive Elisa test result. Although we have have engaged in 'threesome' relationships, we have always used discretion ...playing it safe. Unprotected oral sex, mutual masturbation, with very rare protected anal sex. I never considered that to be risky behavior.
BUT, last month, my partner of 8 years came very ill. He experienced a Temp of 102 for 6 days, weight loss, diarrhea, sweats, soreness, tiredness, dehydration and swollen glands.
He was out of work for 3 weeks, so naturally I took him to the doctor.
Considering that we had no recent 'risky' behavior that stood out, we confidently were interested in very in-depth blood work research that his doc advised. At this point, the doc suspected Mono.
After a week of waiting, the blood came back 'inconclusive,' and the doc insisted that when mono is in the body, it releases an emzyne that will make extracting information from the blood impossible (which was what was happening)....so my partner did a repeat of the blood work.
This time the doc's test came back as follows:(these are the abnormal results)
POLYS 32
LYMPHS 50
BASOS 5
EPV CAPSID ag.Ab/IgM (I think that is epson barr) 3.21
EBC CAPSID Ag .Ab/ IgG- 4.14
EBNA Ab/IgG 4.78
EBV EARLY Ag.Ab 1.89
E SEDIMENTATION RATE 40
Hepatitus A AB/Total - Positive
Elisa- Positive
Western Blot - Indeterminent
MultiSpo - Reactive
HIV-1 RNA, Ultra, PCR - 330025
HIV RNA (log 10) 5.52
My question is, does this information mean in fact that his is HIV positive? And if that is what this report is saying, could it be possible that one (or a combination of many) of the abnormal factors could be swaying the results?
While we are currently waiting for a second round of tests (myself getting tested as well), I can't help but be confused as my rapid Elisa test came back Negative-- and I have been feeling fine. In all of our low risk 'threesome'
experiences, but my partner and I have indulged in the same manners (done the same things). So I am confused why I am okay.
Secondly, we sat down and figured out all our most recent threesome partners (3 partners since October), and notified to get tested as a possible positive situation. 2 of them have already gotten tested, and reported negatives (we are still waiting on the third).
The last time we were with one of the partners was January 18th, 2009.
While it seems that the odds are really stacking up against me, can you look at my results and see if there is anything odd with it? While I have discussed these results with 3 care providers, I have gotten 3 different answers back-- and no absolute confirmations either way.
This is really taking a toll on my partner and I, and if it is true, I want to provide the best care for him possible.
Can extend any advice?
