Do I need further testing

Could this possibly be answered by a UK doctor please?

I am male, 32 years old male UK.
I had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a girl I knew from in May 2009.
December 8 2010 (over 18 months since possible exposure), had flu, sore throat. 3 white spots on my tounge. these spots went after sucking a locket sweet?.
A week later  noticed a rash around my groin, and upper inner things.
A week later noticed what I beleived to be large swollen lymph node
on upper inner thigh. This really was huge. Went down after about a week.
I then noticed a single spot at the base of the glands of my penis.
Took Rapid finger prick test on January 4th 2011 (19 months since exposure) came back negative.
I then convinced myself this was syphillis.
On January 14, started having slight headache and neck ache.
GUM clinic on January 20th for full STD screening.
Results negative for HIV, Syphillis, Gonorreah, Chlamydia and Hep A, B and C.
GP  gave me some cream for the rash
Then, the rash has got worse and progressed down my thighs, and the headaches have got worse.
Most worrying part. I had sex last with my wife on January 7. For the past week, my wife has had a mild sore thrat, along with a light red rash on her nose an cheeks. She has also had a cold.
I continue to have fungal infection of groin, keep getting spots on gums occasional ulcers on tounge. The spot on the glands of my penis is still there.
I have lost about half a stone during this period. This might be because of the worry

1.  Is there anyway 2 seperate HIV tests would not pick up Antibodies after 19 months potential exposure??
2.  I have read fungal ingections are common amongst people with HIV in mid stages. Is it possible to have
a fungal rash before or during seroconversion in peoople with HIV.?
3.  Is it possible given the list of symptoms that I am seroconverting, and I have now passed HIV on to my wife
4.  In your opinion, is further testing warranted, or can I put this behind me?

THIS IS TO cggold, I understand fully how you feel.Thank you to Dr. Sean and Dr. Jose, you both have put my mind at ease. I guess I can tell my self to move on or seek professional mental help with my obsession with HIV. I have all these diffirent kinds of symptoms , and unprotected sex was in May of 2009 and recurrent infections that I drove the nurses at the HIV testing sites insane, I called a nurse at the same clinic a couple of weeks ago with these HIV symptoms and she was like I don't know what else to tell you, you been to the clinic numerous times and all test have came out negative, and you still won't believe your results. I  have gotten blood test, after blood test, done at diffirent test sites, the oral swab test I've lost count on how many times I've had that test taken.  In the past 18 months  I even dragged my husband not once but twice to the clinic same thing negative. My husband start developing some of the symptoms I have, like joint pain, muscle ache, muscle twitching, jaw pain and fungal infection and I immediately thought of the HIV virus. But when we both were tested again the test was still negative. Well cggold87279 I guess am safe to say we need to get down on our knees and lift our eyes and hands to the sky and thank God almighty that we are indeed HIV negative and be thankful about our out come and also continue to pray that they find a cure to this deadly virus. People are living a very long life with the virus its not like it use to be anymore, they have so many treatments for this virus. But to the ones that are out there reading this. Please be advise to start out having safe sex, wrap it up male and females communicate with your sex partner and get tested its best knowing then not knowing. TO ALL MY PEOPLE OUT THERE BE SAFE and again thank you Dr. Jose, and Dr. Sean.

Sean, thanks for the reassuring words. Genuinely sorry for the rant, just that I want closure on this, and could not get it. This whole thing has left me an absolute wreck.

Again, sorry for the rant, I won't pester you guys again, I appreciate you must be quite busy, so thanks for taking the time to reply.

Many thanks, time for me to stop all this nonsense, and start believing what the experts are telling me, and more importantly, what my test results are telling me, that I am hiv negative.

Kind regards

You are ranting - and in my view, unnecessarily. Your questions were clearly answered by Dr Jose in the initial post which I have repeated below for you to read again.

Hello,
Thank you so much for your post.  I will answer each of your questions here below:

1.  Is there anyway 2 seperate HIV tests would not pick up Antibodies after 19 months potential exposure??

NO.  THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE.  THOSE TESTS ARE FULLY CONCLUSIVE.  YOU ARE DEFINITELY HIV NEGATIVE.

2.  I have read fungal ingections are common amongst people with HIV in mid stages. Is it possible to have a fungal rash before or during seroconversion in peoople with HIV.?

IT IS POSSIBLE, BUT THAT IS IRRELEVANT IN YOUR CASE BECAUSE YOU ARE HIV NEGATIVE.  FUNGAL INFECTIONS ARE VERY COMMON AND STRESS CAN BE A CONTRIBUTORY FACTOR.  THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CAUSES FOR FUNGAL INFECTIONS MUCH MORE COMMON THAN HIV.

3.  Is it possible given the list of symptoms that I am seroconverting, and I have now passed HIV on to my wife

NO, THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE.  YOU WOULD HAVE SERO-CONVERTED IN MAY/JUNE 2009 AND THE TESTS YOU HAVE HAD WOULD HAVE BEEN POSITIVE.  YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV; THEREFORE YOU CANNOT INFECT YOUR WIFE.

4.  In your opinion, is further testing warranted, or can I put this behind me?

NO, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY HIV TESTS.  FORGET ABOUT IT AND MOVE ON.

Best wishes,
Dr José

Personally I don't understand which bit you don't understand.

You have asked the further question:-

Thanks doc. I take it them that despite any symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, sore throat, rash etc, the fact I have had 2 negative antibody hiv tests 19 months post exposure completely rules out hiv as a possible cause??

Jose has answered this clearly already. It does not need repeating - the answer  will not be different.

Late seroconversion can be ruled out and forgotten about?

Jose has answered this clearly - again I fail to see why you dont understand it. He said:-

NO.  THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE.  THOSE TESTS ARE FULLY CONCLUSIVE.  YOU ARE DEFINITELY HIV NEGATIVE

SOrry for the additional question, but am asking for clarification so I can move on with my life, and stop worrying about things such as late seroconversion. thanks again doc

I absolutely don't understand why this reply of Jose's has fallen on deaf ears.
NO, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY HIV TESTS.  FORGET ABOUT IT AND MOVE ON

You may have your own views about HIV testing and transmission but the reality is that you do not have it.

I won't return to this again as it has been fully and conclusively answered already.

Kind regards, Sean

Still no reply eh? I have been an absolute wreck. YOu must have seen from my posts I was pretty desperate for some advice...

I would hate to think if someone was asking me for advice, in fact, begging me for advice, and I was an expert, I would advise them....

You were quick enough to advise me when I paid for my question, think that says it all doesn't it. Ask one follow up question for reassurance from an expert, no reply.

It's funny, because when I check the freedom health site, you docs are all to happy to answer follow up questions.

Should have posted on that site..

Ignorance at its best, would have took you all of 1 min to reply and put my mind at rest. Thanks for that!

Sorry for the rant, but stinks a bit when you will only answer a question for cash, thought doctors were supposed to show some compassion, it was only 1 follow up question

You would be much better off seeking professional mental help for your obsession with HIV at this point. The doctor could not have been any clearer.

Guess this is not going to be answered by a doctor, one final attempt tho. Tested negative 19 months post exposure, unprotected vaginal sex. THen got fungal infection of groin. TEsted again this time at gum clinic, negative again. Then my wife has had symptoms 4 weeks after sex with me, rash on face and sore throat. TEsted negative again on 22 Feb using rapid finger prick test. SInce then, developed oral thrush, confirmed by gp. Blood count test, not diabetes.
So, if I was your patient, Sean or Jose, would you believe this sequence of events requires further testing? What would you recomend to me if I walked into your office with this story?
I have had two infections listed as opportunistic infections on all hiv sites in the last month

Should I consider dna testing?

Could delayed seroconversion be ruled out based upon 3 negative ab tests after 22 months post exposure. Tested 3 times in 11 weeks since symptoms.

I appreciate you doctors are no doubt very busy men, but please, If you could respond to this, I would be grateful.

Sorry to ask again, but I don't seem to have had a response to my follow up question.  SHould I be confident what I am experiencing is not delayed seroconversion, given the symptoms I have, and the fact my wife has a rash on her face and sore throat 4 weeks after sex?
