Hi Jose Gonzalez-Garcia and everyone reading this,
I would just like to add i did put myself through another 6 weeks of hell.
Thankfully this Duo test at 12 weeks was fully negative.
I really would like to add, always listen to highly qualified doctors such as Jose Gonzalez-Garcia and accept thir advise, believe me it will save you so much anxiety and depression.
Thats it from me i will be steering fully clear of any HIV related forums from now on, as quite frankly i was scaring the life out of myself.
Thanks Dr Jose i have to admit i feel fairly silly undermining your advice and continuing to test when as you predicted it was utterly unnecessary
I will address all of these issues, although im relieved i'm certainly HIV negative.
Everywhere on the internet people seem to keep stating 3 months is the required time although im relieved that with 4th generation testing i can put this to bed much earlier at 6 weeks. I dont think i could psychologically handle another 6 weeks.
Its certainly a breath of fresh air to gather the advice of a real Expert in the matter such as yourself.
Thank you again Dr Jose Gonzalez-Garcia,
Not at all. Your HIV test results are fully conclusive. However it might be worth being tested for Hepatitis B and C at some stage as well. I hope you have also been tested for Syphilis and for anal Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, all very common and very easy to transmit.
Kind regards,
Dr José
Thank you so much Dr Jose Gonzalez-Garcia,
You have truly made my day.
I have certainly learnt a serious lesson the hard way!
Just one more quick query, if in the unlikely event that another blood borne virus was contracted in relation to what was tested for(HepC,HepB,etc) would this affect the reliability of these two results or would you remain convinced i was certainly negative?
Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
Firstly, I would like to remind you that unprotected receptive anal intercourse is highly risky, especially for blood-borne viral infection, such as HIV, and I hope that you learn form this unpleasant experience and always use condoms from now on.
Secondly, I am very pleased to hear that your tests results were negative. I can reassure you with the fact that you have not been infected with HIV. These test results are now final and conclusive and there is no need to have any more tests performed.
Best wishes,
Dr José
