Hi, I m from India

I had unprotected sex with a SW on 9-May-10, although i didnt ejaculated
I got my self tested for HIV Elisa on 8-june-10, result came -ve with idex value showing as 0.12

I requested that lady (SW) also to get tested earlier, she also tested -ve. But her testing method was "Dry Blood Spot"

Till this I was feeling OK.

From yesterday, i m noticing a slight swelling in my armpit, although its not paining at all

Pls tell me :-

1. Can HIV symptom come after so many days also
2. I understand that confirm Elisa test can be done after 3 months only, May I go for "Western Blot Test" in coming week. Will that test can give me perfect status now.

Hi dr KPSHAKYA HELP ME : I have made an unprotected sex with an lady on 18, 24, 30 May 2009. After that I m scared of HIV. I have got fever on 18 June 2009, After 1 week I have taken my blood test and found that there is malaria. I have gone through malaria treatment from 28 June 2009 to 10 July 2009. I have taken again my blood test for malaria then there was no malaria but 12% esnophil was there. After treatment I m ok but I have fear about HIV all time .I was suffering from High BP, Cervical spendolysis, Acidity and constipation.  I meet to doctor and again I did my CBC on 27 August. The result was ok But Esnophil was now 11%. I was not taking any medicine for esnophil. Now I tell my story to doctor and then we decided for an ELISHA- HIV test. My HIV test was made on 3 Sep 2009 and the test result was Negative. From Sep 2009 to 15 Dec 2009 I was o.k. After that again I have got the problem of constipation, gas and acidity. I have done my Endoscopy on 23 March t2010hat was OK. I was suffering from neck pain and dizziness and blurred vision in 23 April 2009. I have done my CBC again the report was normal. MY TLC was 9.9, Hemocatriot: 40.4, Lymphocyte: 23%, Netrophils 74%, esnophils: 1%. Now in the month of June 2010 I have problem of dry mouth, etching skins. I am living with fear of HIV since 1 year. Now I became so nervous. What to do. Is there HIV inside me? I have made the relationship with lady that was a hose wife and widow. Her husband wad died in March 2008 due to fever. He was a greatest alcoholic.

Yesterday I Got my post 8 week result, with same result "Non Reactive, Index 0.12"

But as ur Elisa Test is -ve after 3 month, u are all right

Please read the comment given by Dr. Sean. After 28 days of the exposure a P24 antigen + Antibody test is relaible.  If u have done this test and it came negative then I think its fine.  I dont think u should be worried.  Testing again after 8weeks/12 weeks will only be for yr mental satisfaction.

I m counting the days for my 8 weeks post exposure to get it checked again
Yesterday 18-june i.e. 40th days after event, and i m feeling slight swelling below left ear. My ear feels heavy. Swelling is not visible at a glance, but on touching it can be felt. Sometimes it pains a bit as well

What is happening to me is it normal or something abnormal
I am worried bcoz Lab fellow says 30 days report is not credible at all !!!

yes you can get it. It take some 3 to 4 days For a dna pcr. P24 you will get on the same day in few hours

Only thing of concern is that, can HIV 1-2 dual test combining P24 antigen, test result be obtained in 5 hrs ?

Or the Lab is just fooling around me....

Also please advise how reliable HIV serology test based on "Dry Blood Spot Testing"

regarding days in which you get results for p24 you can ask the doc. But remember excessive post is deleted. But the doc is a great person he will surely help you.

look i am not an expert. I said what i read from this forum. Presently i am suffering from hiv phobia. And go as per the advice given by the expert above. The best thing is to search for a doctor who is a specialist in this field near your location. A personal advice is always useful. I dont know where r you from in india. If from mumbai. I could have provided you contact details of some experts. Any ways what do you mean by dry blood test. How hiv can be detected in dry viruse. Dont know..

You are fine.

Your combination HIV 1 and 2 antibody test together with p24 antigen = 4th generation test is greater than 99.5% accurate at the 28 day mark post event. The fact that the lady also tested negative is ideal. You are fine.

You do not need a Western Blot test.

Please please remember to use condoms in future to protect yourself.

ITks for putting some word for me. The test i have undergone, says Hiv 1-2 incl P24 Antigen Dual combo. But i got the report on the say day.

Can u tell me, if Western Blot test at this stage will b helpful

Hi, I ama not a doctor. But from what I have read from this forum and HIV prevention forum is that your risk is very low. Ideally, all the SW insist for a condom, its strange hou u could mannage without it.  Anways, Generaly its the view that within 4 weeks atleast 66.66% antibody is detected.  Within 6-8 weeks abut 85% to 95% will get detected.  In the mean time if u r very very anxious I think u can go for antiagen test (it is called as p24 duo test) its bit expensive and takes 4 to 5 days, but it give almost 98% reuslts in 28 days.  This test will detect the viruse itself and not the anti body.  And when an anti body is generated then viruse is not detectable.  However, since its duo anti body test will also be done and overe here it can be detected.  Net Net either viruse will get detected or the antibody.Have fait in God.  Even I am doing the same.  Hope this helps
