Sorry doghouse, I jumped by mistake into a new thread. God bless ya and take care.
Dear SunnyLee,
By the way, I need to ask you a crucial question. For the first time yesterday I read about the tests. It was mentioned that Antigen is better to be tested on the 28th day after possible infection. Afterwards, it will start to disappear since the antibodies will start reacting. I took the DUO on the 34th day and was wondering with a bearable panic since I took the DUO on the 34th day. In case I had it, what if the Antigen got decreased by then due to the emergence of Antibodies but the said Antibodies were still minimal by then to get detected. Hope Dr. Sean assist us in answering this question.
Otherwise SunnyLee can you recommend a couple of websites where I can ask some concerned Doctors addressing this last and only question (even if paid webs).
Thanks a lot my friend, and sorry but I'm not a keen internet browser... still read physical/active books instead of googling.
Regards,
R.
Hope Dr. Sean can assist us as well.
Starting to stress major again.......was feelin better last 5 days.....did some exercise last night now have swollen glands again and sore throat, and somewhat mucussy...
My anxiety was dropping as girl had convince me she was recently tested before the holiday, but now read you are much more infectious if recently infected.
Im so scared again, everything was pointing to being ok, now swollen glands again (predominately on one side), irritated throat...all other glands fine, no fever, no rash....
Doc how much more infectious our women at transferring hiv to men if recently infected, you said 1 in 1220 stats, what is it now?
Hi doc,
I had came back as negative 3 days post exposure which obviously does not say a great deal but also negative for any other STDs (tested for syphilis & gonnereha) (took urine and blood test) which is good because that lowers your chances doesn't it?
I can't find info on high plasma load? If she had been recently infected does that mean she is more infectious than some1 who has had for quite some time?
Considering risk of transmission is 1 in 1220 for when woman is known HIV and I dont even know this thats pretty good statistics. Do you know what the stats are if they have been recently infected?
Also what do you think the earliest possible time is to get a conclusive result? I read somewhere 21 days is conclusive? I asked my doctor when I went to get the blood test and she told me it was pretty bloody accurate for a blood test. I just told her I had lots of unprotected sex and when I got back which was two days before meeting her. Wouldnt it be negligble of her to say this if not true? I lost the paper which she wrote what days post exposure I should be doing the test on. What would you reccomend?
Hi Dr.
on the 27th days of post exposure. i have conducted 2 tests separately which are Finger Prick test(2nd generation) & P24 Antigen test(lab test). Both result come out as Negative. Are the result conclusive? If not conclusive, what will be the confidence level of the negative result?
Hello again,
Youare correct to say that the "risk2 from the first episode is non existent = zero. That is why I said in my first response that you should have an HIV DUO test 28 days from the SECOND episode. I do think you should also have a general std screen for the disease mentioned above.
The risk of HIV transmission where the other persons HIV status is unknown for unprotected insertive vaginal intercourse is 1 in 400,000 for a woman born in the UK - we do not have figures I'm afraid for Russia women in Bali. The risk of HIV transmission where the woman is known to be HIV positive will be 1 in 1220.
There are some other features which may increase the risk of HIV transmission:-
1) a high plasma viral load - eg where the other person has recently become infected
2) mouth or genital ulcer disease, menstruation
3) other sexually transmitted diseases
4) non circumcision
best regards, Sean
Hello Bruce,
Yes. I have read about the risk calculation in some other posts by the doctors. If you ask me, as a person with some mathematics knowledge, I would agree with you, the risk calculation is indeed low.
It's great that you can still think rationally when you are in anxiety mode. Wish I can be like you too.
I think like what Dr. Sean has suggested, a Duo Test at 28 days shall rule out HIV if the result is negative, which I shall pray for you and myself. :)
Have a great day, Bruce.
Ok yes I understand this and appreciate your feedback. I certainly will never EVER do this again, I will never put myself at risk again and always use protection.
From what I have read I am almost 0 risk from first encounter. 3 x unprotected vaginal sex is very risky but it was all with the same girl who says she was tested only weeks before and was clear, plus she said she was precautious although the fact that she did not force or even suggest using condom makes me a little bit scheptical of this. If she had contracted HIV+ since then all even the doctor didnt pick it up - Either way they say even if HIV+ - chances of contracting is 1 in 1000, meaning 3 encounters equals 3 in 1000 so .003% chance. Also I have heard on other sites for f t m with HIV+ it is more likely 1 in 279, so 3 in 279 is .0107% of contracting. Is that correct? Still very low right?
Im not trying to make excuses and I know I could easily have been exposed but I think that my paranoia/ anxiety is out of control and just trying to apply some rationale to my thoughts.
Bruce,
I think the doctor did not provide you with any estimate because there were some risky sexual activities involved, which were the 3 times unprotected sex.
I really wish and pray for you that all the encounters that you have exposed to are all HIV negative.
I'm not a doctor but I have seen quite a few doctors. Taken test at 5 days after an event will not tell anything bout HIV.
I think you should follow Dr.Cummings suggestion to do a Duo Test post 28 days after the second event.
And Bruce, I hope you will be safe and be tested negative from these exposures. However, I think the most important thing while waiting for the days to come for the test is I think we need to learn from the mistakes.
Like you, I have also put myself at risk from some sexual encounters. Waiting for the time to test is really agonizing. Thinking back, it's really really not worth at all for having few minutes of fun that causes few months of agony.
Promise yourself, that you will learn from these mistakes and do not repeat them again.
Sorry if you find my comment is useless as I'm not a doctor.
Also how comprehensive is the HIV test if i have blood take 5 days after second event and recieve results 13 days later?
Sorry I meant to say I am most worried about HIV. I thought that since sex with CSW was protected 0 risk? Fingering almost zero risk because vaginal cum came from condom so was mixed with lube from condom, and then obviously the condom was exposed to air for 30 odd seconds prior to fingering so almost 0 risk or am i wrong?
In regards to Russian girl I thought since she said she was hiv negative then risks are 0. Even if she was wrong it is much more difficult to contract HIV from f to m than m t f correct? I thought even though it was unprotected sex 3 times it was w the same girl who claims her status is negative, which is better than 3 different girls and not knowing potentially any of their hiv status......
Hello Bruce
I'm not quite sure what the actual question is because all you've done is describe, in detail, your activity.
My view on the basis of the info provided would be that you need to do a very comprehensive sexual health screen at an appropriate interval.
You need to take a 4th generation HIV DUO/COMBO at 28 days after the second event together with testing for syphilis and hepatitis B antigen. I would also suggest you have an anl swab and a penile sample for chlamydia and gonorrhoea after a minimum period of 1 week post sex.
I can't give you an estimate as to your chances of acquisition of disease.
best wishes, Sean
why wont anyone give me advice, please doctors out there i need help!!
